Job Summary

Must Have
- Perform racking and stacking of servers, network devices, and other data center equipment.
- Execute fiber and copper patching, ensuring proper labeling and routing.
- Manage and maintain fiber TAP infrastructure.
- Monitor and troubleshoot power distribution units (PDUs) and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of servers.
- Conduct maintenance and configuration of network switches.
- Possess a strong understanding of low-latency network principles.
- Utilize OBR fiber testers for fault isolation and validation of fiber optic cabling.
- Utilize Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools, specifically Sunbird.
- Maintain accurate documentation for data center infrastructure and network configurations.

Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Engineer II to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of data center operations and infrastructure, demonstrating expertise in areas such as racking and stacking, power management, cooling systems, fiber and copper patching, and server and switch maintenance. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of low-latency networks. Proficiency with DCIM tools, specifically Sunbird, and experience with OBR fiber testers are essential.
Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Management:
- Perform racking and stacking of servers, network devices, and other data center equipment according to established procedures and best practices.
- Execute fiber and copper patching, ensuring proper labeling, routing, and adherence to network design specifications.
- Manage and maintain the fiber TAP infrastructure to support network monitoring and analysis.
- Monitor and troubleshoot power distribution units (PDUs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and other power infrastructure components.
- Assist in the maintenance and optimization of data center cooling systems to ensure optimal operating temperatures.
Hardware Maintenance and Support:
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of servers, including component replacement (e.g., RAM, hard drives, power supplies).
- Conduct maintenance and configuration of network switches, ensuring proper operation and connectivity.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues for various data center components.
Network Operations:
- Possess a strong understanding of low-latency network principles and best practices.
- Assist in the implementation and verification of network changes and upgrades.
- Utilize OBR fiber testers for fault isolation, characterization, and validation of fiber optic cabling.
Tools and Documentation:
- Utilize Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools, specifically Sunbird, for asset tracking, capacity planning, and operational monitoring.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all data center infrastructure, network configurations, and operational procedures.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and clients regarding data center operations, incidents, and planned changes.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on complex projects and problem resolution.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers when required.
Other Duties:
- Participate in on-call rotations as needed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and data center operational policies.
- Continuously learn and stay updated on new data center technologies and best practices.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a data center environment.
Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, cabling, and physical security.
- Proven experience with racking and stacking servers and network equipment.
- Expertise in fiber and copper patching, including various connector types and cable management techniques.
- Solid understanding of fiber TAP infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with server hardware maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in switch maintenance and basic network troubleshooting.
- Demonstrable experience with DCIM tools, specifically Sunbird.
- Experience with OBR fiber testers for fiber optic cable analysis.
- Strong understanding of low-latency network concepts and their implementation.
