Job Description

We are seeking a Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to enhance and sustain software development, testing, and live infrastructure and services. This role involves collaborating with development, technical operations, quality assurance, and product management teams to guarantee the uptime and performance of Trellix's Email Security Cloud solution for corporate clients. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience with Linux and various database services, focusing on proactive monitoring, automation, and incident management to ensure high availability and scalability.
Must have:
  • Analyze solutions and implement best practices for cloud database components.
  • Maintain uptime, scalability, and availability of databases including MySQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, and Redshift.
  • Build and enhance tooling, automation, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Implement proactive monitoring and alerting to detect issues before they impact users.
  • Build HA big-data systems and manage highly scalable databases.
  • Set up infrastructure as a service using Terraform.
  • Use Incident management processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Swiftly navigate through incidents, perform impact analysis, and take appropriate actions.
  • Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions.
  • Monitor database performance, control access permissions and privileges, capacity planning, implement changes and apply new patches and versions.
  • Recommend query and schema changes to optimize the performance of database queries.
  • Create a 24/7 service reliability model to proactively monitor systems across geographical locations.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to keep up the service SLA.
  • Understand customer impact and prioritize workload between features development and customer support.

Role Overview:

We are seeking for a DBRE who will improve and maintain software development, test and live infrastructure and services. He/she will articulate and have experience with Linux and various Database services. The primary mission as a DBRE is working with the development, technical operations, quality assurance, and product management teams, to ensure the uptime and performance of Trellix Email Security Cloud solution for corporate clients.

  • Total 3yrs to 6yrs experience of Analyze solutions and implement best practices for our main cloud database and its components.
  • Responsible for maintaining and keeping the uptime, scalability, and availability of several types of Databases that include but not limited to MySQL, Elasticsearch, Redis and Redshift.
  • Build and enhance our tooling, automation, and CI/CD workflows that provide safe self-service capabilities to the team.
  • Implement proactive monitoring and alerting to detect issues before they impact users. Use a metrics driven approach to identify and root cause performance and scalability bottlenecks in the system.
  • Build HA big-data systems and can manage highly scalable databases that can handle a high volume of data ingestion with low latent query responses.
  • Setting up infrastructure as a service using Terraform.
  • Use Incident management processes and always look for improving operational efficiency.
  • Swiftly navigate through the incident, perform the impact analysis, and take appropriate actions.
  • Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions for the data dictionary.
  • Monitor database performance, control access permissions and privileges, capacity planning, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required.
  • Recommend query and schema changes to optimize the performance of database queries.
  • Create a 24/7 service reliability model to proactive monitor the systems across geographical locations.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to keep up the service SLA per the business needs.
  • Understands customer impact and can prioritize the workload between features development and customer support.
