You will be responsible for the reliability, performance, and operational excellence of databases powering live game studios globally. This role involves working with diverse database technologies in a high-scale, distributed environment, optimizing mission-critical PostgreSQL instances, and supporting MariaDB and SingleStore deployments. You will handle database provisioning, schema management, tuning for OLTP and analytical workloads, and collaborate with development, DevOps, and data engineering teams. Responsibilities include participating in on-call rotations and contributing to automation efforts.
Must have:
  • 3-5 years as a production DBA
  • Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL
  • Deep knowledge of SQL and performance tuning
  • Solid understanding of replication, failover, and backup/recovery
  • Familiarity with Linux and scripting for automation
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Good to have:
  • Experience with MariaDB and/or SingleStore
  • Experience in a 24/7 global environment
  • Work with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)

Playtika is looking for a skilled and motivated DBA to join our global Data Infrastructure team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the reliability, performance, and operational excellence of the databases that power our live game studios across multiple regions and time zones. You’ll work with a diverse set of database technologies in a highly distributed, high-scale environment.

This is a hands-on, mid-senior level position ideal for someone with solid operational DBA experience, who enjoys solving complex problems, and is passionate about improving database performance and reliability at scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain production-grade relational and columnar databases across global game studio environments
  • Optimize performance and ensure high availability for mission-critical PostgreSQL instances
  • Support and troubleshoot MariaDB and SingleStore deployments (experience is a plus)
  • Handle database provisioning, schema management, and tuning for OLTP and analytical workloads
  • Write, review, and optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Collaborate with development, DevOps, and data engineering teams on design, monitoring, and scaling database systems
  • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response as part of a global team
  • Contribute to automation and standardization of DBA tasks where possible

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience as a production DBA, preferably in a 24/7 global environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL – must-have
  • Experience working with MariaDB and/or SingleStore – strong advantages
  • Deep knowledge of SQL, including performance tuning, query optimization, and execution plan analysis
  • Solid understanding of replication, failover strategies, and backup/recovery processes
  • Familiarity with Linux-based environments and scripting for automation
  • Experience working with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, or similar)
  • Work with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks for automated database provisioning (Terraform, Ansible, or similar) a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
