Job Description

What We Do

Put your design skills to work for a cutting-edge company that challenges norms. From character and level design to high-performance systems and game design, help shape the future of interactive entertainment at Epic.

What You'll Do

Epic Games is looking for a Design Director to define and drive the creative vision for a large-scale, cross-platform LEGO experience. In this role, you will lead a team to rapidly prototype, identify what makes the game engaging, and enrich this foundation with liveops principles and data-driven design. You will collaborate with product, user experience (UX/UI), and community teams to understand player motivations and create experiences that resonate with a broad audience. Above all, you will drive a creative, ambitious, and collaborative culture that pushes design quality and player satisfaction to new heights.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Define, lead, and share with stakeholders the design vision for a large-scale cross-platform experience.
  • Foster a collaborative and ambitious creative environment that enables the team to reach its full potential and sets new standards of quality.
  • Encourage rapid, iterative prototyping to identify the key elements that make the experience captivating, then refine and enrich this foundation using liveops principles and data-driven design.
  • Work with product, user experience (UX/UI), and community teams to better understand player behavior and meet their needs and aspirations.
  • Contribute to advancing design practice within the team.

What We're Looking For

  • More than ten years of experience in designing and delivering games as a designer, design team lead, or gameplay innovator.
  • Strong interest in the LEGO brand, lifestyle games, and player-centric mobile experiences.
  • In-depth experience in creating experiences combining creative freedom and long-term engagement, fostering clear objectives and memorable, shared gameplay moments.
  • Demonstrated talent for understanding and anticipating player needs, as well as an excellent understanding of their motivations, play styles, and the impact of objectives on their experience.
  • Technical skills in design and feature prototyping to quickly test and iterate in collaboration with programming and art teams.
  • Player-centric, solution-oriented mindset driven by a passion for creating engaging game experiences — always looking for new ways to make the game even more captivating.

Benefits

We pay 100% of the premiums associated with social benefits, for both employees and dependents, and offer additional coverage for medical, dental, and vision care, critical illness, telemedicine, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and long-term disability insurance. We also offer weekly indemnity (short-term disability) and a retirement savings plan with a competitive employer contribution. In addition to the employee assistance program, we offer an extensive mental wellness program through Modern Health, an organization that provides free therapy and coaching services to employees and dependents.
