Endava is seeking a Development Lead with Java expertise. This role involves leading and mentoring a team of up to 10 members, providing guidance, and supporting their professional development. The lead will facilitate the planning, implementation, and delivery of software, ensuring timely completion, adherence to requirements, and quality standards. Responsibilities include designing and estimating technical solutions for complex applications, participating in all phases of the development lifecycle, and collaborating with stakeholders to clarify requirements and architecture. The lead will also promote IT industry standards, tools, and practices like DevOps, and propose improvements while escalating risks. Reviewing the work of team members and staying updated with new technologies are also key aspects. The role requires active participation in tech communities and sharing knowledge.
Must have:
  • 6+ years of software development experience
  • Proficient in Java, Spring, Hibernate, Maven, Gradle
  • Strong experience with SQL databases
  • Advanced Git experience
  • Strong experience with testing frameworks
  • Good knowledge of HTTP, REST, JSON
  • Considerable Agile (SCRUM, KANBAN) experience
  • Solid knowledge of CI/CD tools
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork
Good to have:
  • Kotlin experience
  • Familiarity with design patterns (SOLID, GoF, MVVM)
  • Familiarity with functional programming
  • Experience with IntelliJ IDEA

Job Description

Development is the largest discipline at Endava. Our developers design, build, and release software products in multiple programming languages, frameworks, and libraries. Always collaborating with cross-functional project teams, our developers are adaptable problem-solvers with a client-oriented mindset.  

Responsibilities:

  • Leads and mentors a team of up to 10 team members by offering guidance and support in their daily activities and professional development.
  • Facilitates the planning, implementation, and delivery of software, ensuring that it is completed on time, following agreed requirements, and adhering to established quality standards.
  • Designs, estimates, and implements technical solutions for high complexity applications.
  • Participates actively in all phases of the application development lifecycle.
  • Collaborates with various project stakeholders to provide support for clarifying requirements, processes, architecture, and priorities.
  • Recommends and promotes IT industry standards, tools, and practices (DevOps, etc.) to achieve well-engineered software products.
  • Proposes improvements and escalates risks/issues related to development activities.
  • Participates in the review of the work done by development team members.
  • Learns, applies, and promotes new technologies, practices, and tools as appropriate to the project.
  • Participates in internal and external tech communities, events, etc.
  • Shares experience and knowledge gained from projects.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in software development.
  • Strong understanding of different common programming paradigms (OOP, Functional, etc.).
  • Strong familiarity with design/architectural patterns and clean code principles (e.g., SOLID, GoF, MVVM).
  • Proficient in relevant programming languages, frameworks, and tools such as Java, IntelliJ IDEA, Spring, Hibernate, Maven, Gradle. Nice to have: Kotlin.
  • Strong experience in relevant database systems and SQL.
  • Advanced understanding of version control systems like Git or similar.
  • Strong experience with testing and mocking frameworks.
  • Good knowledge of various communication protocols and standards such as HTTP, REST, JSON, TCP/IP, etc.
  • Considerable experience with Agile methodologies (e.g., SCRUM, KANBAN).
  • Solid knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices.
  • Good problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Upper-intermediate English proficiency.
