Job Description

PayPal is seeking a Director, Business Operations (Chief of Staff) to join their Checkout organization. This role reports directly to the SVP, Head of Checkout and is responsible for managing key business priorities, including cross-functional goals, investment planning, resource allocation, and driving horizontal initiatives. The Director will influence executive decisions, establish business strategy, and optimize organizational performance. The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree, with a strong understanding of business operations and strategy.

We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

This job uses their knowledge and direction to influence decisions as an advisor or counsel, establishing overall business or technical strategy for the organization. They spend significant time on strategy and influencing decision-making at the executive level.

PayPal's Checkout organization is responsible for building and managing the core experiences, infrastructure, and products that power the online checkout process for consumers and merchants. This is a central and highly strategic area of PayPal’s business, as checkout is where conversion happens—turning a browsing customer into a paying one.

What you need to know about the role

As the Director, Business Operations (Chief of Staff), you will report directly to the SVP, Head of Checkout. You will lead a diverse set of priorities to ensure effective business management. These priorities include creating clear cross functional goals and driving accountability across cross functional teams, coordination of investment planning & prioritization, management and prioritization of resource allocation process, and leading key horizontal efforts that support business performance, in partnership with relevant stakeholders, including employee engagement and communications, workforce planning, and organization design initiatives.

  • Drive strategic objectives and ensure resources are effectively allocated.

  • Provide oversight and support for planning and management of financial, budget, and headcount targets.

  • Act as a liaison between business leadership, staff, and other key partners.

  • Optimize workflows and drive process improvements to enhance organizational performance.

  • Drive and monitor Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to address gaps in business and operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
