Job Summary

eBay is seeking a Director, Customer Intelligence Product to lead the science and data product strategy, focusing on understanding customers in an AI-driven eCommerce world. This role involves uncovering deep customer insights using AI-powered data science, creating impactful solutions to drive engagement, and providing a 360-degree view of each customer. The director will drive innovation in customer understanding and activations through smarter data science and AI solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design next-generation data-driven solutions and provide strategic insights to executive leadership.

Must Have

  • 8+ years of experience in Customer data science, customer strategy and/or product roles, including 5+ years leading teams
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience or above in a quantitative field, e.g., statistics, mathematics, physics, computer science, economics, engineering
  • Consistent track record building analytical products and customer data-science driven programs
  • Strong expertise in customer data, customer analytics and quantitative analysis approaches, including experience evaluating ML models with custom metrics and robust frameworks
  • Deep understanding of data governance methodologies
  • High-reaching, self-starter attitude; able to adapt to emerging challenges and implement under ambiguity

About the team and the role:

We're reimagining how to understand customers in an AI-driven eCommerce world—and we're looking for a transformational leader who blends technical depth with product intuition. As Director of Customer Intelligence Product, you will guide the science and data product strategy. This role helps eBay gain deeper customer insights and offers a full, 360-degree view of each customer. Your mission? Drive innovation in customer understanding and customer activations through smarter data science and AI-powered solutions.

You’ll join the Growth Customer Science org and play a key leadership role in a cross functional team to design the next generation of data-driven solutions for customers. This role works closely with our Global Customer Insights team, as well as eBay’s Business and Product teams, to deliver strategic insights and develop a deeper understanding of our customers and the solutions that best serve their needs.

What you will accomplish:

  • You will Lead and inspire the science & insights product strategy which helps eBay to better understand customers to provide a comprehensive, 360 view of each customer
  • Provide thought leadership on the customer segmentations and predicted signals that eBay needs to develop, based on internal and external customer data and developed using machine learning methods
  • Provide strategic direction to build a modern, sustainable data program in collaboration with the data management and architecture teams, to serve as the foundation for our customer-centric efforts and external data sharing strategy
  • Understand eBay’s internal data structure (domain owners, stewards etc.), internal data usage, and external data sharing risks and tie it back to the business needs
  • Lead the creation of regular updates to the executive leadership team and throughout the eBay global business on the health of the eBay customer base, spotting the opportunity areas and working with partners to drive strategies that help eBay grow
  • Collaborate closely with technology and data platform teams to (1) establish the guidelines and use cases for external data sharing and internal data cross-proliferation, and (2) apply the signals as features into other eBay customer facing solutions.

What you will bring:

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$218,400 - $291,600

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
