Position Overview
The Director of Device Engineering is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of cutting-edge device solutions. This position requires a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration across multiple geographic sites. The ideal candidate will lead engineering teams in developing innovative devices, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage device engineering teams across multiple locations, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
- Oversee the development and execution of complex engineering projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and customer requirements.
- Develop and implement strategies for efficient resource allocation and project prioritization in a multi-site environment.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and other departments to deliver integrated device solutions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and industry best practices throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Mentor and develop engineering talent, providing guidance and support for professional growth and technical excellence.
- Monitor project performance, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering processes, tools, and technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing complex projects or multi-disciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale, complex device development projects from concept to commercialization.
- Proven experience working in a multi-site environment, coordinating efforts and resources across global teams.
- Strong technical background in device engineering, with expertise in hardware and/or embedded systems design.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Experience with regulatory compliance (e.g., FDA, CE, ISO) is preferred.
