The Walt Disney Company is seeking a Director of Partnerships & Commercialization to lead the strategic and commercial aspects of its groundbreaking partnership with Epic Games in developing a new Disney digital universe connected to Fortnite. This high-impact role involves driving commercial strategy, managing the relationship with Epic, coordinating cross-functional teams, identifying new opportunities, and shaping product strategies to maximize fan engagement and revenue potential. The ideal candidate will have extensive executive leadership experience in business development, partnerships, or commercial strategy within the games or entertainment industry.
Must have:
  • Act as the primary day-to-day business lead between Disney and Epic Games.
  • Develop and evolve the commercial strategy for Disney x Epic experiences.
  • Drive cross-functional coordination for deal negotiation and execution of joint initiatives.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities with Epic and third-party developers.
  • Partner with internal games leadership to shape product strategies.
  • Track and manage performance across the portfolio, including revenue and profitability.
  • Build strong partnerships across Epic Games, Disney Games, and broader TWDC teams.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations on progress and opportunities.
  • 10+ years of executive leadership experience in business development, partnerships, or commercial strategy in games/entertainment.
  • Proven experience negotiating, structuring, and executing complex deals in the gaming space.
  • Deep understanding of the games industry ecosystem, including live service, UGC, and monetization models.
  • Strong analytical, financial, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Bachelor's degree is required.

The Walt Disney Company is seeking a strategic, entrepreneurial, and collaborative Director of Partnerships & Commercialization to lead key aspects of our groundbreaking partnership with Epic Games in the development of an expansive new Disney digital universe connected to Fortnite.

In this high-impact role, you will drive the commercial strategy, planning, and long-term relationship management with Epic. You will work cross-functionally across product, content, legal, marketing, and executive teams to bring this next-generation experience to life for fans around the world.

This role is ideal for a highly strategic and relationship-driven leader who thrives at the intersection of games, IP, partnerships, and fan engagement. This position reports to the VP, Strategy & Commercialization for Disney Games & Digital Entertainment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary day-to-day business lead between Disney & Epic Games, ensuring alignment across shared objectives, timelines, and KPIs.
  • Develop and evolve the commercial strategy for Disney x Epic experiences, including business models, deal structures, monetization frameworks, and go-to-market planning.
  • Drive cross-functional coordination across product, content, legal, and marketing teams to lead deal negotiation and ensure smooth execution of joint initiatives.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities with Epic and third-party developers that support the games roadmap and expand fan engagement and revenue potential.
  • Partner with the internal games leadership to shape product strategies that maximize player engagement, monetization, and franchise value.
  • Track and manage performance across the portfolio, including revenue, profitability, and return on investment.
  • Build strong partnerships across Epic Games, Disney Games & Digital Entertainment, and broader TWDC teams to unlock interdependencies and foster collaboration.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations and materials to communicate progress, impact, and opportunity areas.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of executive leadership experience in business development, partnerships, or commercial strategy, with a strong track record in the games or entertainment industry.
  • Proven experience negotiating, structuring, and executing complex deals, including co-development, licensing, and commercial agreements in the gaming space.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive business growth through strategic partnerships or third-party collaborations.
  • Deep understanding of the games industry ecosystem, including live service operations, UGC, monetization models, and platform dynamics.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills, with experience building business cases, forecasting, and tracking performance metrics.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with ability to articulate complex strategic initiatives to executive leadership and partners in a thoughtful and persuasive manner.
  • Comfortable navigating large, matrixed organizations to align on goals and manage multi-stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, while managing multiple high-priority initiatives with accelerated timelines.
  • Passion for Disney storytelling, innovation in digital entertainment, and building world-class interactive experiences.

Education

  • Required: Bachelor's degree
  • Preferred: MBA

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $182,700.00 to $245,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
