Job Description

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is seeking multiple Drug and Alcohol Testing Technicians to support the Human Reliability Program Office. The primary responsibility involves collecting urine specimens for drug testing and conducting breath and alcohol testing using a breathalyzer. Technicians will maintain a professional environment, perform testing according to DOT guideline 49 CFR Part 40, and ensure accurate completion of Chain of Custody forms. This role requires full-time on-site presence within the Health Services Department.
Must have:
  • Perform drug and alcohol tests for LLNL pre-employment applicants, employees, and contractors.
  • Collect specimens according to established procedures using Department of Transportation (DOT) guideline 49 CFR Part 40.
  • Responsible for completing DOT and non-DOT Chain of Custody forms (CCF) and Breath Alcohol Testing Forms accurately.
  • Conduct quality assurance on the collection process and CCF daily.
  • Maintain all appropriate collection logs, accuracy logs, calibrations, DOT, and Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) certifications.
  • Perform data entry into various LLNL Business applications.
  • Be responsible for ordering and restocking supplies.
  • Ensure Breath and Alcohol Testing machine receives daily maintenance and calibration.
  • AA degree in health-related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Completed DOT Drug Urine Collector certification (must be presented prior to a job offer).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Breath Alcohol Testing Certification within 6 months.
  • Proficient in handling chain of custody forms, shipping specimens, and performing precise data entry.
  • Experience interacting effectively with patients and multidisciplinary health professionals.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment, and exercising discretion and sound judgment in processing and safeguarding information of a sensitive nature.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to be self-driven and highly productive under close supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.

Pay Range

$33.48 - $40.99 Hourly

Job Description

We have openings for multiple Drug and Alcohol Testing Technicians, to support the Human Reliability Program Office . The technician’s primary responsibility is collecting urine specimens to test for illegal drug use and conduct breath and alcohol testing using a breathalyzer. You will also maintain a safe and professional environment for clients and employees, performing with confidence all aspects of the testing according to established procedures using Department of Transportation (DOT) guideline 49 CFR Part 40. This position is in the Health Services Department within the Environment, Safety, and Health (ES&H) Directorate.

This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.

You will

  • Perform drug and alcohol tests for LLNL pre-employment applicants, employees, and contractors as required.
  • Collect specimens according to established procedures using Department of Transportation (DOT) guideline 49 CFR Part 40.
  • Responsible for completing DOT and non-DOT Chain of Custody forms (CCF) and Breath Alcohol Testing Forms accurately.

Qualifications

  • AA degree in health-related field or equivalent combination of education (including certifications) and related experience.
  • Completed DOT Drug Urine Collector certification (must be presented prior to a job offer).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Breath Alcohol Testing Certification within 6 months.
  • Proficient in handling chain of custody forms, shipping specimens, and performing precise data entry.
  • Experience interacting effectively with patients and multidisciplinary health professionals.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment, and exercising discretion and sound judgment in processing and safeguarding information of a sensitive nature.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with a diverse workforce and represent the Laboratory with professionalism.
  • Ability to be self-driven and highly productive under close supervision, as well as work effectively as a team member.
