This role offers a unique opportunity to join Marvell, a leader in wireline Ethernet communication technologies. The team focuses on state-of-the-art DSP and architecture challenges for products reaching speeds of 1.6Tb/s across various media. The DSP Systems Architect will design and simulate DSP architectures, define performance requirements, create hardware block specifications, perform research in digital signal processing for SerDes and optical channels, and work with designers on efficient implementation. The role also involves behavioral modeling of mixed-signal circuit designs and guiding lab characterization and chip bring-up.
Must have:
  • Design and simulate DSP architectures, define key capabilities, performance requirements and drive specifications for both analog and digital designers.
  • Create DSP and FEC hardware block specifications appropriate for RTL implementation.
  • Perform research activities in digital signal processing for SerDes and optical channels.
  • Work with designers to ensure circuit architecture can be efficiently implemented.
  • Develop/perform behavioral modeling of mixed-signal circuit designs for transceivers.
  • Provide guidance on test plans for lab characterization once design comes back from fab.
  • Participate in chip lab bring up.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields and 5+years of related Professional experience. OR Master’s degree and/or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in communication system modeling, Matlab, Python.
  • Knowledgeable about common high-speed serial data protocols PAM and system standards.
  • Experience in high-speed DSP, especially FFE/DFE, Clock and Data Recovery (CDR).
Good to have:
  • C is desirable when working with digital verification.
  • Knowledge of AWG equipment and ability to work in the lab.
  • Comfortable working with APPS team in the lab to test algorithms and chip performance.
  • Experience with FEC (RS, soft decoding, Viterbi algorithm).
  • Experience with ADC-based wireline transceivers and/or coherent DSP architectures.
  • Experience with high-speed/time interleaved ADC and the associated calibration algorithms.
  • Experience with either direct-detect/intensity modulated or coherent optical communication.
  • Team player, willing to take on a variety of projects, good listening skills, self-motivated.

Marvell’s product portfolio addresses applications from Hyperscale data center interconnects to industrial PHYs, reaching speeds of 1.6Tb/s, and covering diverse media types spanning Optical fibers and High speed coaxial cables to shielded and unshielded twisted pair cables. The underlying core technologies that enable these products are state of the art of equalization techniques like Maximum likelihood sequence estimation, timing synchronization, cross talk and echo cancellation techniques, error control coding techniques such as LDPC, product and concatenated codes, combined with architectural and circuit innovations to enable low power high speed implementation of these complex algorithms.

What We're Looking For

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields and 5+years of related Professional experience. OR Master’s degree and/or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Programming Languages:
  • communication system modeling
  • Matlab
  • Python
