Job Summary

The Editorial Assistant will support the editorial team for a comedy reportage from January 5, 2026, to May 31, 2026, in a full-time, fixed-term position in Cologne. Key tasks include daily team support, content research and fact-checking, creating dossiers and profiles, coordinating appointments with protagonists and locations, assisting with shoot organization, preparing briefings, managing documents, reviewing materials, and contributing to texts and social clips.

Must Have

  • Support the editorial team in daily operations

  • Request and schedule appointments with protagonists, guests, and filming locations
  • Assist with shoot organization and schedule coordination
  • Prepare briefings and maintain documents/tables
  • Support material review (e.g., scene lists, timecodes)
  • Contribute to voice-over texts, social clips, and editorial summaries

Good to Have

  • First experience in TV/streaming editorial, production, or journalism, ideally in comedy or documentary
  • Interest in journalistic research, fact-checking, comedy, and entertainment
  • Knowledge of national media landscape and current pop culture/political references, including social media
  • Research skills and basic journalistic understanding
  • Sense of humor, timing, and tonality
  • High organizational skills, diligence, and independent, structured work
  • Strong communication, reliability, and team orientation
  • Enthusiasm for formats that entertainingly cover political and social topics

Your Tasks

To support our editorial team for a comedy reportage, we are looking for a motivated Editorial Assistant (all gender) from January 5, 2026, to May 31, 2026, in a full-time, fixed-term position based in Cologne. Your main tasks include:

  • Support the editorial team in daily operations
  • Research and fact-check relevant content
  • Create dossiers, overviews, and protagonist profiles
  • Request and schedule appointments with protagonists, guests, and filming locations
  • Assist with shoot organization and schedule coordination in close consultation with production
  • Prepare briefings, reliably create and maintain documents and tables
  • Support material review (e.g., scene lists, timecodes)
  • Contribute to voice-over texts, social clips, and editorial summaries

Your Profile

  • First experience in a TV/streaming editorial office, production company, journalist team or similar environment, ideally in comedy or documentary
  • Interest in journalistic research and fact-checking as well as comedy and entertainment
  • Knowledge of the national media landscape and current pop cultural and political references, also in the area of social media
  • Research skills and a basic journalistic understanding
  • Sense of humor, timing, and tonality
  • High organizational skills, diligence, and independent, structured way of working
  • Strong communication skills, reliable, and team-oriented
  • Enthusiasm for a format that entertainingly tells political and social topics

Since 2012, btf (bildundtonfabrik) has been an independent production company for fiction, show, documentary, games, and advertising. From the initial idea to the script, post-production, and visual FX, we produce everything completely in-house. Award-winning shows, series, films, documentaries, video games, and advertising for an international audience are created at our location in Cologne-Ehrenfeld and the associated Studio König, and at our games location in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
