Job Summary

A proposal engineer prepares and manages technical and commercial proposals for engineering projects, by analyzing project requirements, collaborating with various teams, and ensuring proposals meet customer needs while adhering to company standards. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and strong communication skills. The role supports the sales team in the Biogas Market Line, ensuring efficient sales processes, maximizing order entry, and limiting unnecessary work. The proposal engineer is accountable for the exhaustivity, accuracy, and reactivity of quotations and contractual documents, securing project execution with limited risk and deviations.

Must Have

  • Review customer requirements, bid/RFQ specifications.
  • Determine the best technology for the project.
  • Coordinate between Sales Managers, Project Managers, technical functions, and Supply Chain.
  • Prepare technical specifications and obtain quotes from sub-suppliers.
  • Prepare competitive cost calculations.
  • Prepare documentation package to handover for project execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years relevant experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in combining commerce and technology.
  • Experience with process design, mechanical engineering, and proposal preparation of complex projects.
  • Understanding of process flow diagrams, basic project drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken.

Proposal Engineer – Biogas

“A proposal engineer prepares and manages technical and commercial proposals for engineering projects, by analyzing project requirements, collaborating with various teams, and ensuring proposals meet customer needs while adhering to company standards. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and strong communication skills”

The role will require working and supporting the sales team specialized in the Biogas Market Line.

The role is expected to ensure the sales process is followed correctly to enhance the efficiency of the sales team while maximizing the order entry and limiting the unnecessary work. Further the proposal engineer is accountable for the exhaustivity, accuracy and reactivity of the quotations and any other documents used for contractual purpose and thereby securing that sold projects can be executed with limited risk and without deviations.

The role will report directly to SGS Proposal Team Lead – Biogas.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review customer requirements, bid/RFQ specifications, to determine the best technology for the project on preliminary phase and ensure alignment with company´s strategic
  • Initiate and ensure proposal teamwork is aligned with the Roles and Responsibilities in the Sales Process/E2E
  • Coordinator between Sales Managers, Project Managers, technical functions, and Supply Chain
  • Prepare technical specifications and obtain quotes from sub suppliers (with support from Engineering, Technology, Supply Chain etc.)
  • Stakeholder in Firm Bid Sales Process with Technical Sales Review and Contract Review Board
  • Prepare competitive cost calculations based on detailed quotations and documents to create compelling bids.
  • Prepare the documentation package to handover for project execution when a project is sold
  • Maintenance and development of sales documentation
  • Participate in meetings with Sales and customers to clarify and enhance understanding of the Proposal (Online or travel to customers as required)
  • Participate in department meetings and work towards the annual team goals
  • Be part of post project review processes

JOB REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (additional certification or degree in Tendering, Estimation, Project Management are an asset)
  • At Least 3 years relevant experience
  • Demonstrable experience in combining commerce and technology, capable of weighing the balance between commercial opportunity and technological risk.
  • Experience with process design, mechanical engineering and proposal preparation of complex projects
  • Understanding of process flow diagrams, basic project drawings and equipment specifications.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Preferably experience in Biogas environment, Petrochemical or Industrial Gases, Carbon Capture and Utilization applications or comparable products
