Job Details

We are looking for a passionate and experienced game designer who specializes in Unreal Engine to join our Shanghai Studio.

You will be working on one of our new projects. You should be able to independently design new features and systems, and support their implementation, but the ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in using level, layout and enemy composition to craft satisfying and challenging combat encounters.

At Supercell, we believe that small teams that find a way to work well together have the potential to create memorable games. It’s important that each team member takes pride in their work and knows what it means to take responsibility and deliver quality and fun to players. As a game designer at Supercell, you are responsible for making decisions about gameplay and mechanics, but will need to collaborate with game programmers, game artists and other designers to shape the overall product vision.

If you think that describes you, then we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Prototype gameplay content (level interactivity, level layouts and combat encounters) by yourself with minimal dependencies on other disciplines.

  • Work with systems and combat designers to balance and iterate encounters.

  • On-hands design and iteration of new features, game mechanics and gameplay content

  • Collaborate with other disciplines to follow your designs from initial documentation through to final in-engine polish.

  • Support the development of the game with any additional skills.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of professional experience as a Level/Content Designer with a portfolio demonstrating level content and gameplay created by yourself using Unreal Engine & Blueprint.

  • Proactive doer who takes responsibility and pride in their own work when given the freedom to work independently

  • Strong cross-discipline communication skills

  • Being a great teammate - we believe making games is a team sport

Nice to Have

  • Extensive knowledge of Unreal tools esp. Level editor, blueprints, and Sequencer

  • Experience with combat AI and familiarity with Unreal Behavior Trees.

  • Proven ability to implement fun combat encounters in interesting spaces
