Job Description
- Manage shipping and preparation of completed engine assemblies/components to test facilities in line with customer requirements
- Coordinate validation testing per DVP&R, OEM test specifications, industry best practices, and lessons learned, under Chief Engineer guidance
- Ensure timely delivery of test specifications, procedures, engines, and supporting hardware (harnesses, connectors, seals, plugs, mounts, etc.) for scheduled test milestones
- Review and approve test cell setups, fixtures, and procedures at internal and external facilities (CTC, ARDC, supplier labs in Southeast Michigan and beyond)
- Track validation progress against plans and present status in program reviews and technical meetings
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues arising during test execution
- Maintain complete documentation and records for each validation cycle
- Review, approve, and sign off on final test reports; ensure results are incorporated into DVP&R
- Manage post-test property disposition, including teardown, inspection, and reuse decisions
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve test procedures, validation methods, DVPs, and PV plans for engine product development
- Provide on-site technical support as a resident engineer at partner test facilities or supplier sites
- Support root cause investigations of validation issues, warranty concerns, or field returns; drive mitigation and corrective actions
- Apply structured problem-solving tools (DFSS, 8D, 5-Why, Fault Tree Analysis) in proactive and reactive engineering activities
- Conduct diagnostic testing, replicate failure modes observed during validation or field use, and recommend corrective design/process improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, quality, manufacturing) to align validation activities with program timing and technical requirements
Qualifications
- Understanding of automotive Engine designs.
- Knowledge of electronic bill of material systems, and CAD systems, preferably TeamCenter.
- Knowledge of fasteners and torque.
- Able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Understanding of Engine electronics.
- Knowledge for the various tools to collect battery data and able plot data.
