Job Description

As a Backend Engineer on the Data Rights Engineering team, you will ensure compliance with consumer privacy regulations related to data access, correction, and deletion. Responsibilities include ingesting, processing, and reporting on data privacy requests, and building robust orchestration workflows using technologies like Golang, Kafka, Snowflake, and PostgreSQL. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and partner with data governance and legal stakeholders to ensure compliant privacy solutions.
Must have:
  • 2+ years of software development experience in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), micro-services, and/or distributed architecture.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain application code using object-oriented programming languages.
  • Expertise in API development and integrations.
  • Ability to store, retrieve and analyze data.
  • Experience with messaging frameworks.
  • Ability to use observability tools.
  • Identify and optimize poorly performing code, database queries, and network requests.
  • Enjoy collaborating with other engineers across teams.
  • Strong intuition and strong problem solving skills.
  • Passionate about sharing knowledge with your team.

Impact

As our Backend Engineer on our Data Rights Engineering team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our organization complies with consumer privacy regulations related to data access, correction, and deletion. Every day, you will be responsible for ingesting, processing, and reporting on data privacy requests, and for building robust orchestration workflows using technologies such as Golang, Kafka, Snowflake, and PostgreSQL. You will also collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams and partner with data governance and legal stakeholders to ensure privacy solutions are compliant.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

  • 2+ years of software development experience in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), micro-services, and/or distributed architecture
  • You know how to design, develop, test (unit/integration/etc), deploy and maintain application code using object-oriented programming languages.
  • You have expertise in API development and integrations.
  • You know how to store, retrieve and analyze data.
  • You have experience with messaging frameworks.
  • You know how to use observability tools.

Work Arrangement

Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In-office expectations will vary by role and leader. Certain roles may require in-office presence on a full-time basis. Other compensation includes eligibility for an annual bonus and the potential for restricted stock units based on role.

Pay range:

Metro Areas of Boston, District of Columbia, Seattle and New York City: $75,900-$151,700

Metro Areas of Los Angeles and San Francisco: $118,657.43-$151,700

All other locations: $63,100-$126,300

Please note that the salary range above is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
