Software Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Engineering team in Sydney and are currently looking for an Engineer to join the team.

As an Engineer in our Games team, you will be pivotal in integrating new games into VGW's existing systems, ensuring fun and exciting new games reach our players.

In terms of our tech stack, we're hosted on AWS, containerised with Docker. In these containers, we run our servers on Node.js connecting to DynamoDB. Our clients are built with TypeScript, PixiJS and use as few dependencies as possible.

What you bring

• Extensive experience with client-side web development (TypeScript/JavaScript, webpack/vite/jest/vitest).
• Experience with WebGL technologies (PixiJS, Three.js) and animation libraries (GSAP) is a plus.
• Experience in interactive visual applications, 2D game development, or animations using game engines (Godot, Unity, Unreal) is highly desirable.
• Ability to prototype and collaborate with stakeholders to meet feature requirements while maintaining application standards.
• Deliver product features effectively, focusing on lead time, deployment frequency, change failure rate, resolution time, and minimising production bugs.
• Experience in designing architecture patterns tailored to system needs, with exposure to game client-specific patterns being advantageous.
• Understanding of cloud development fundamentals (AWS hosting) and containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes).
