Rolls-Royce is seeking a Materials Engineer specializing in Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) to join its global team. This role involves problem-solving and impacting safety, cost, and innovation within the company. The engineer will support engineering operations for Civil Aerospace Group A critical components, performing inspections using techniques like Magnetic Particle Inspection, Eddy Current, Ultrasonic Analysis, and Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection. The position also offers opportunities to develop automation and digital improvement tools for NDE work.
Must have:
  • Deliver defined NDE work packages, manage customer interaction and reporting of results.
  • Manage process workflow of engineering operations and inspections of Civil Aerospace Group A critical components.
  • Apply relevant NDE technical knowledge, expertise and engineering judgement during the inspection of Aerospace components to sentence components complying to air worthiness requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree, diploma, or equivalent technical qualifications based on practical and technical experience in NDE.
  • Demonstrated at least 5 years of working knowledge or strong interest in engineering and NDE methods in high value component manufacturing industries (e.g. Aerospace).
  • Possess a minimum NDE Level 2 certification in Penetration Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Ultrasonic Testing and Eddy Current Testing methods.
Good to have:
  • NDE Level 3 certification on the above techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading or undertaking Improvement Projects (e.g. digital tool & automation) and working towards efficiency.

A role opportunity arises for a new NDE engineer to support engineering operations of Civil Aerospace Group A critical components inspections according to aviation requirements using an assortment of Non-Destructive testing techniques such as Magnetic Particle Inspection, Eddy Current, Ultrasonic Analysis and Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection. The role will also offer opportunities to develop related improvement tools (eg. automation and digital) and methods to aid in operations and for related NDE work scope in region.

The role requires proactive collaborative working and knowledge sharing with our global teams based in United Kingdom, Germany and the US. Coordination to support the workflow with internal stakeholders, strategic suppliers, embedded suppliers and overhaul bases will be required.

The role reports directly to the Capability Manager (APAC) based in Rolls-Royce Singapore (Seletar) with day-to-day operations to a Team Leader. The role will primarily be based in Rolls-Royce Seletar facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver defined NDE work packages, manage customer interaction and reporting of results. Providing delivery against programme milestones within agreed costs, timescales and quality requirements.
  • Manage process workflow of engineering operations and inspections of Civil Aerospace Group A critical components. Tasks include but not limited to; component tracking, analysis, inspection, contractor management and technical report writing.
  • Apply relevant NDE technical knowledge, expertise and engineering judgement during the inspection of Aerospace components to sentence components complying to air worthiness requirements

Key Experiences and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, diploma, or equivalent technical qualifications based on practical and technical experience in NDE
  • Demonstrated at least 5 years of working knowledge or have a strong interest in engineering and NDE methods in high value component manufacturing industries (e.g. Aerospace) will be preferred
  • Possess a minimum NDE Level 2 certification in Penetration Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Ultrasonic Testing and Eddy Current Testing methods in accordance with the requirements of RRP 58000 and RRPS 58005 or from a Rolls-Royce recognised certifying body (eg. Southwest School of NDT). NDE Level 3 certification on the above techniques are very much welcomed.
  • An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading or undertaking Improvement Projects (eg. digital tool & automation) and working towards efficiency will be advantageous.
