Rebellion is seeking an Environment Art Intern to contribute to their upcoming projects in Oxford. The intern will work closely with the art team, crafting original 3D visuals using the in-house engine, tracking progress, collaborating on task direction and quality, and creating optimized artwork. Responsibilities include crafting 3D artwork, enhancing game environments, and becoming immersed in Rebellion’s workflows. Ideal candidates possess a portfolio showcasing relevant 3D projects (Unreal or Unity), knowledge of 2D/3D packages, and strong art fundamentals (composition, lighting, form, color). Willingness to learn Blender and a passion for game development are essential. The internship offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and the chance to contribute to exciting projects within a supportive environment.

As an Environment Art Intern, you will have the chance to expand your skills and knowledge in environment art while being guided by our talented art team.

Your primary focus will be on crafting 3D artwork, illuminating worlds, and enhancing the details of existing game environments. You'll be immersed in our workflows and best practices as you contribute to one of our exciting upcoming projects.

Responsibilities :

  • Work closely with art team to craft original visuals using our in-house engine.
  • Track and update the progress of day-to-day tasks.
  • Collaborate with project lead/mentor on task direction and quality of own work.
  • Create technical meshes, optimise and debug artwork.

Requirements

  • You are completing a university placement year, are a career switcher, or an aspiring environment artist with no or minimal Game Development industry experience.
  • You have a portfolio containing personal or educational 3D projects that are relevant to environment art, using a game engine such as unreal or unity.
  • You have a good knowledge of any 2D and 3D packages for game development workflows.
  • You are willing to learn Blender, if not already familiar.
  • You actively look for learning opportunities and are comfortable with the iterative feedback.
  • You are a motivated self-learner with a genuine passion for the industry and its creative
  • possibilities.
  • You have solid art fundamentals in composition, lighting, form and colour.
  • You can translate concept and reference into game art.
