Job Description

Hello Games seeks an experienced artist to join its team. Responsibilities include creating a diverse range of 2D and 3D art assets, from concept art and character modeling to environment design, maintaining art style consistency, collaborating effectively, prioritizing workload, and driving innovation. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in game art, a strong portfolio showcasing diverse styles, and proficiency in software such as Maya, Photoshop, ZBrush, and Substance Designer/Painter. The role involves a wide range of artistic tasks and requires a highly skilled and versatile individual.

Must have:

3+ years game art experience
Strong 2D/3D portfolio
Proficiency in Maya, Photoshop, ZBrush, Substance Designer/Painter
Collaborative team player
Self-directed and organized

As an experienced artist at Hello Games you’ll be part of a team that continually strives to create impactful and inspiring art. Our games have a diverse look and feel and so we’re looking for talented artists who have built a portfolio of equally diverse and exciting work whilst working on other games but is now looking for somewhere new to spread their wings and continue to build their skills.

Responsibilities

To be that all round artist you know you are, turning your hands to many things from concepts to modelling, characters to environments
Create beautiful and impactful 3D art.
Work collaborative with the art team to maintain art style and standards.
Work well with others.
Be self-directed and prioritise workload.
Drive quality and innovation within our games.

Qualifications

At least 3 years in the role of artist working in games.
A great portfolio of 2D and 3D work that demonstrates a range of styles.
Experience of Maya, Photoshop, Zbrush and Substance Designer/Substance Painter and proficiency of using these, or similar software.

We’re a video game development studio and publisher based in Guildford and Cambridge in the UK, and are proudly independent. We are the creators of the multi-award winning Joe Danger games, the huge and evolving No Man’s Sky and a recently announced side project The Last Campfire and when we’re not doing that, we’re probably working on something new.

History

We believe that small talented teams can achieve great things. As a team of four in a tiny room above a tile shop, we created the multi million selling Joe Danger. As a dozen developers in a leaking shed, we borrowed our neighbour’s internet and created one of the biggest selling new IPs in video games – No Man’s Sky.

The success of No Man’s Sky has given us a nice office and a whole bunch more freedom to expand creatively. These days we try to join the stability and quality of AAA development with the freedom and creativity of an independent studio. We are excited to bring new games that wouldn’t exist otherwise into the world.
