Job Description

As a Mechanical Engineer at Aptiv, you will be responsible for developing concept and architecture designs, managing mechanical requirements, and defining mechanical BOM for products. You will create prototype designs, collaborate with purchasing and suppliers, and identify mechanical special product characteristics. You will also conduct Mechanical DFMEA, prepare verification plans, utilize Unigraphics for 3D/2D tasks, and perform verification tests. Additionally, you will coordinate cross-functional teams and manage project deliverables. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and a proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Must have:
  • Bachelor/Masters in Mechanical Engineering or CAD/CAM
  • 6-9 years experience as a Mechanical Engineer with Automobile experience
  • Hands-on experience in product areas like Infotainment, Body Control Modules
  • Experience with design and development of plastic and sheet metal components
  • Experience with product design and development from new pursuit until warranty
Good to have:
  • Exposure to Mechanical digital simulations methods & tools (Moldflow, Structural, Thermal)
  • Experience to Quality Audits (Internal/External)
  • Experience with customer, supplier, validation, testing team coordination and interactions
  • Experience in Design tools like Unigraphics NX & Team center
  • Experience in Change Management (product life cycle management)

Your Role - Mechanical Engineer

  • Develop concept and architecture designs based on customer and internal product requirements.
  • Manage mechanical requirements at customer and system levels.
  • Define and manage Mechanical BOM for products (unique/standard/brought out/in-house).
  • Prototype design creation, collaborating with purchasing/suppliers for part development.
  • Identify Mechanical Special Product Characteristics (KPC/QCI).
  • Conduct Mechanical DFMEA,  mitigate risks, and report findings.
  • Prepare Mechanical verification plans for product performance.
  • Utilize Unigraphics for 3D/2D/Assembly/Drafting/Sheetmetal tasks.
  • Perform Mechanical verification tests, ensure compliance, and meet requirements.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, manage project deliverables, and conduct reviews

Your Background

  • Bachelor\Masters in Mechanical Engineering or CAD/CAM.
  • 6-9 years experience as a Mechanical Engineer with Automobile experience in New product design and development.
  • Hands-on working experience in product area like Infotainment, Body Control Modules, Radars, Camera, Brackets, ECU’s, Camera’s …
  • Working experience in design and development of plastic. Die-cast and sheet metal components/assemblies
  • Experience with product design and development starting from new pursuit until warranty.
  • Ability to do tear down & benchmark studies.
  • Exposure to Mechanical digital simulations methods & tools (Moldflow, Structural, Thermal)
  • Experience to Quality Audits (Internal/External).
  • Experience with customer, supplier, validation, testing team coordination and interactions.
  • Experience in Design tools like Unigraphics NX & Team center.
  • Experience in Change Management (product life cycle management).
  • Knowledge on Metrological instruments/Methods used to measure parts against design with GD&T.
  • Working knowledge on VA/VE, MCIP, cost saving initiatives.
  • Experience in using DFMEA to identify risk and take actions systematically.
