Vertex Inc. is seeking a 2026 Summer Intern for the Finance Business Partner team. This role involves working with seasoned finance professionals and business leaders to gain insights into business operations. The intern will support the Finance team by providing financial insights, analysis, and reporting to drive key business decisions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate financial data into actionable strategies for improved business performance.
Must Have:
  • Learn about Vertex products, services, industries, and operations
  • Assist in preparing monthly management reports, financial analysis, and performance dashboards
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
  • Partner with business units to understand key drivers of revenue, cost, and profitability
  • Perform ad hoc financial modeling and scenario analysis to support decision-making
  • Help improve internal financial processes and tools for efficiency and accuracy
  • Gather and analyze data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Support preparation of presentations and reports for senior management
  • Attend weekly team calls and internal meetings
  • Research new technologies including AI to help improve business processes
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and familiarity with financial systems such as Workday
  • Basic understanding of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks

Job Summary:

Vertex Inc, a leader in Tax Technology and global SaaS organization is seeking a 2026 Summer Intern for Finance Business Partner team. As an intern you will work with our team of seasoned finance professionals and interact with business leaders throughout the company to learn about the operations of the business.

As a Finance Business Partner Intern, you will support the Finance team in providing financial insights, analysis, and reporting that drive key business decisions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams — such as Software Engineering, Corporate IT, Marketing, and Sales among others — to help translate financial data into actionable strategies that improve business performance.

Key Responsibilities for our FBP intern:

  • Learn about our products, services, industries, and operations
  • Assist in preparing monthly management reports, financial analysis, and performance dashboards.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
  • Partner with business units to understand key drivers of revenue, cost, and profitability.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

Education and Training:

Enrolled in bachelor’s or Master's degree program through an Accredited University in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related majors.

Pay Transparency Statement:

US Base Salary Range: $22.00 - $24.00

Base pay offered to new hires may vary based upon factors including relevant industry and job-related skills and experience, geographic location, and business needs.* The range displayed does not encompass the full potential of the role, which allows for further growth and career progression.

In addition, as a part of our total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Vertex Bonus Plan (VOB), a role-specific sales commission/bonus, and/or equity grants.
