This role involves developing Linux kernel drivers, system APIs, applications, and services for charging functionalities (wired, wireless, reverse wireless) in Google Pixel devices. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is crucial for designing power management, battery charging, and thermal management solutions. Responsibilities include defining and implementing performance monitoring techniques, developing testing infrastructure and automation, and contributing to charging and battery performance improvements. The engineer will also participate in the development of new wireless and wired charging standards and silicon. This position requires extensive experience in firmware development for embedded systems and a deep understanding of battery technology and power management in mobile devices.
Must have:
  • 5+ years coding experience (C/C++)
  • Embedded systems & Linux kernel driver exp.
  • Develop charging system APIs and services
  • Work with cross-functional hardware/software teams
  • Design & implement charging performance monitoring
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in related field
  • Experience testing/launching software products
  • Experience with battery-powered devices
  • Android tools experience (Systrace, Git)
  • Knowledge of mobile device hardware/software interaction

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in coding with a general purpose programming language (e.g., C/C++).
  • Experience with developing Firmware for embedded systems and Linux kernel drivers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
  • Experience working on battery powered computing devices.
  • Experience with Android tools (e.g., Systrace, Git, power measurement tools, digital multimeter, etc.).
  • Knowledge of mobile devices, including both hardware and software, and interactions between the two.

Responsibilities

  • Develop linux kernel drivers, system API, applications and services for charging, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.
  • Work with cross-functional hardware, software, and systems teams on the design of solutions for input power management, battery charging, system and thermal management.
  • Define and develop techniques for monitoring and analysis of charging and battery performance. Drive the implementation, deployment and monitoring of charging and battery performances.
  • Design, develop, and utilize tools, scripts, testing fixtures, automation for infrastructure for testing and analysis of charging performances and system power use cases.
  • Participate in the development of new and existing wireless and wired charging standards and silicon.
