This position is for a Flagship Store Business Director candidate at eBay Japan G.K., responsible for overseeing the entire business from the launch to the operation of Qoo10's first offline flagship store. Leveraging online customer base and brand power, this role will lead the creation of new customer experiences and business growth in physical stores, creating a seamless OMO experience.
Must have:

eBay Japan is the Japanese subsidiary of eBay, one of the world's largest marketplaces headquartered in Silicon Valley, USA. In Japan, we operate "Qoo10," a fun shopping mall supported by Gen Z, and continue to grow rapidly in various categories, primarily beauty and fashion.

Background

Having primarily focused on online business, we have decided to open our first offline flagship store as the next pillar of our growth strategy. This store is not just a place for sales. It is a strategic hub to create a new customer experience (OMO: Online Merges with Offline) where the world of Qoo10 can be experienced in real life, and online and offline seamlessly connect.

Flagship Store Business Director Candidate

Position Overview

You will be a candidate responsible for overseeing the entire business, from the launch to the operation of the first offline flagship store for Qoo10, an online shopping mall operated by eBay Japan G.K. This position will leverage the customer base and brand power cultivated online to lead the creation of new customer experiences and business growth in physical stores.

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Business Development

  • Formulate and execute mid- to long-term strategies for the flagship store business.
  • Build an omnichannel strategy in collaboration with online businesses.
  • Identify new business opportunities and consider commercialization.
  • Develop business plans based on competitive analysis and market research.

Organizational Management and Operation

  • Build and operate the organization for flagship store staff (store operations, logistics, marketing, etc.).
  • Cross-functional project management in collaboration with department heads.
  • Maximize business results by setting KPIs and managing progress.
  • Develop and evaluate team members.

External Collaboration and Partnerships

  • Build relationships with tenant partners, including Korean cosmetics brands.
  • Collaborate with various head office departments (EC business division, marketing, finance, etc.).
  • Build relationships with industry stakeholders and media.

P&L Management

  • Budget formulation and performance management for the flagship store business.
  • Set sales and profit targets and implement measures to achieve them.
  • Cost management and optimization of investment efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • Over 5 years of experience as a business unit manager or equivalent management position in the retail industry.
  • Experience in transactions with cosmetics wholesalers in offline businesses in Japan.
  • Experience in business operations with P&L responsibility.
  • Experience managing a team of 10 or more people.
  • Experience in planning and executing omnichannel strategies.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience expanding from e-commerce business to physical stores.
  • Business experience in the beauty/cosmetics industry.
  • Experience in Korean business or transactions with Korean companies.
  • Business level English proficiency.
  • Experience in launching new businesses.
