Job Summary

Envar Games is seeking a hands-on Game Director to lead a new, small (around 5 people), and swift team. The director will establish, own, and drive the vision for their game and team, guiding them with clear direction. This role requires active contribution to development, not just leadership. The ideal candidate has shipped multiple games and has experience in design, code, or art, and must be able to work on-site in Stockholm, Sweden.

Must Have

Responsible for the vision and creative framework of the game

6+ years of experience in the gaming industry, having shipped at least two titles

Strong time-management, decision-making, mediation, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and organizational skills in English

Good to Have

Proven experience shipping games with Unreal or Unity engine

About the role

We are seeking a hands-on Game Director to lead a new team within Envar Games, designed to be small - around 5 people, and swift. The team needs a leader, is that you?

As a Game Director you will establish, own and drive the vision for your game and team, guiding a tight-knit team and aligning around clear direction. Leading a smaller team of around 5 people, you will also be expected to contribute to development, not just lead.

The ideal candidate for this role has shipped a number of games and is experienced in a discipline such as Design, Code or Art. You’re a strong leader who also contributes actively to development.

This is an in-house position, as such candidates must be able to work in Stockholm, Sweden.

As part of this recruitment process, candidates who move to later stages will be asked to pitch a game concept to help us align early on vision, direction and ways of working.

We want you to feel immediate ownership and trust within your role.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

6+ years of experience in the gaming industry having shipped at least two titles, preferably Indie or AA
Hands-on experience as a Designer, Programmer or Artist
Passion for games developed swiftly and in a smaller team where each team member may wear several hats
Knowledge of game industry-standard software tools, design documents, and production processes/best practices
Strong time-management skills with the ability to focus on priorities, manage change and deliver against agreed deadlines
Proven ability to work under rapid development cycles
Strong decision-making capabilities with a demonstrable ability to think outside the box
Strong mediation and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and organizational skills in English

Bonus Points

Proven experience shipping games with an industry-standard engine such as Unreal or Unity
