Job Description

We are looking for a UX Designer to join our Game Design team and help shape the player experience for our upcoming titles. In this role, you will be the bridge between complex game mechanics and the player's understanding, ensuring that our mechanics feel intuitive, accessible, and satisfying.

You will work closely with Game Designers, UI Artists, and Programmers to translate high-level design goals into clean, functional user flows and wireframes. You won't just be designing menus; you will be designing the lens through which players interact and play together.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Prototype: Create low-to-high fidelity wireframes, user flows, and interactive prototypes to communicate design intent to the team.
  • Player-Centric Problem Solving: Translate complex gameplay systems into intuitive and accessible user interfaces.
  • Collaboration: Work directly with Game Designers to ensure the UX supports the narrative pacing and gameplay loops, and with UI Artists to ensure the final implementation meets visual standards.
  • User Research & Testing: Plan and conduct usability testing sessions, analyse player feedback, and iterate on designs to remove friction points and enhance player immersion.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear, up-to-date UX documentation and style guides that serve as a reference for the entire development team.
  • Accessibility Advocacy: Champion accessibility best practices (e.g., resizing text, colourblind modes, input remapping) to ensure our games are playable by the widest possible audience.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Professional experience as a UX Designer within the games industry (or a very strong portfolio of relevant personal game projects).
  • Tool Proficiency: Expertise in standard design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or Axure.
  • Engine Knowledge: Familiarity with game engines (Unity with Unreal as a bonus) and how UI/UX is implemented within them.
  • Communication: Strong ability to articulate design decisions and the "why" behind them to non-design stakeholders.
  • Portfolio: A portfolio demonstrating a solid understanding of information architecture, interaction design, and user-centred design principles.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience working on social party and puzzle games on PC, console and mobile.
  • Basic understanding of scripting or UI implementation in Unity/Unreal (e.g., UMG, Unity UI).
  • Experience with motion design or micro-interactions.
