As a Game Engineer on the Tools & Technology team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a proprietary cross-platform game engine and tools. This role requires architectural design, implementation, debugging, and optimization of various game systems, including animation, gameplay, graphics, and machine learning. You will collaborate closely with artists and designers to showcase the capabilities of Apple platforms, evaluate current and upcoming games, and research and implement state-of-the-art game systems. This is a full-time, on-site position.
Must have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- C or C++ programming
- 3D math (linear algebra, vector math)
- Game technologies (animation, AI, physics, graphics)
Good to have:
- 10+ years in the games industry
- CPU/GPU performance profiling
- Shipped two or more games
- Custom game engine development
- Game asset pipelines
- Passion for games

As Game Engineer on the Tools & Technology team, you will develop and maintain the bespoke engine, requiring architectural design, implementation, debugging and optimization of systems, while working with artists and designers in areas such as animation, game play, rendering and/or tools. In this role you will: • Contribute to a proprietary game engine. • Implement systems to showcase the capabilities of Apple platforms. • Evaluate current and upcoming games. • Research and implement state of the art game systems. • Collaborate with art and design disciplines. • Collaborate with other Apple teams.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent job-related experience.
- Experience in C or C++ programming languages.
- Experience with 3D math, such as linear algebra or vector math.
- Experience with game technologies such as animation, AI, physics, graphics and/or animation.
- 10+ years of experience working as an engineer in the games industry.
- Familiarity using CPU and GPU performance profiling tools.
- Contributed to the development of two or more shipped games, PC or console.
- Experience with custom game engine development.
- Experience with game asset pipelines.
- Passion for games.
