Key responsibilities include planning testing, writing bug reports, evaluating deliverables, and assisting with communications to external test teams.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager of Quality Assurance, the Game Quality Assurance Specialist 1 is a hands-on champion and trusted expert. In this role, the Specialist will not just play games -- but be making them better, digging deep into gameplay and systems to ensure each title hits the high quality bar our players expect.

From prototypes to final build, the Game Quality Assurance Specialist 1 will be on the front lines testing for functionality, performance, and player experience. This role is responsible for collaborating with both internal and external QA teams to uphold high quality standards of quality and consistency. This includes verifying milestone deliverables are met, maintaining alignment across teams, and supporting the timely delivery of player ready builds. This position also contributes to the continuous improvement by identifying testing gaps and recommending enhancements to QA processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with team leads and department managers to plan testing including test cases and test cycles
  • Collaborate with the QA Project Lead to audit externally developed test plans
  • Write bug reports and build assessments for internally developed projects
  • Evaluate milestone deliverables meet success criteria; draft milestone evaluation documents, as needed
  • Assist the QA Project Lead with communications to external test teams regarding reported issues, project status, testing needs, and build deliveries
  • Conduct high level evaluation of testing execution throughout the project to ensure quality is meeting expectations
  • Assist the Product team with writing requirements in beginning phases of projects
  • Test builds for functionality, compatibility, and certification
  • Acquire and maintain specialized knowledge of projects and QA methodologies
  • Use specialized knowledge in collaboration with project leadership to triage issues
  • Create and maintain supporting documentation for areas of specialized knowledge
  • Act as point person for other internal departments to answer questions on active or past projects and/or field information requests regarding previous reports
  • Assist Marketing with video capture and other requests

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field and 3 years of relevant game development experience or 5 years of relevant game development experience
  • 1 year game testing experience
  • ISTQB certifications (Certified Tester, Game Tester, and Test Analyst)
  • Shipped at least two titles
  • Proficiency with bug and test case tracking software (Jira, TestTrack, etc.), along with spreadsheet and word processing application (Google Suite/Microsoft Office)
  • Strong knowledge of games across various genres and platforms
  • Able to apply thorough understanding of game QA processes and expectations to create unique testing methodologies
  • Able to adapt and learn quickly, and work independently and/or as part of a team, while maintaining a keen attention to detail and focus on objectives
  • Demonstrated proficiency with effectively communicating cross-departmentally and externally with partners
