Flock Safety is seeking a strategic and self-motivated Head of Business Development for State Law Enforcement. This role involves leading efforts to expand business with existing and new state law enforcement customers across multiple product lines. Reporting to the VP of State Business Development, you will partner with Major Accounts sales and Government Affairs teams. This is a critical opportunity to grow Flock Safety's presence within state law enforcement, impacting decision-making in a hyper-growth company. The position requires over 50% regional travel during peak seasons.

The Opportunity

If you thrive in deciphering complex organizations and challenging selling environments, then this is a game-changing opportunity for you. Flock Safety is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Business Development for State Law Enforcement to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the company's efforts in expanding our business with existing and new state law enforcement customers across multiple product lines.

This role will report into the VP of State Business Development and be a critical business partner for both our Major Accounts sales team and Government Affairs team. While Flock Safety has north of 5,000 law enforcement agency customers, there exists significant room to grow our business with State Law Enforcement who share our mission of eliminating crime, but have a unique mission set that may differ from local law enforcement. This role will offer substantial leadership exposure and opportunity to impact decision making for a new market within a hyper growth company. The position requires regional travel more than 50% during peak seasons.

90 Days at Flock

We are a results-oriented culture and believe job descriptions are a thing of the past. We prescribe to 90 day plans and believe that good days lead to good weeks, which lead to good months. This serves as a preview of the 90 day plan you will receive if you were to be hired in this role at Flock Safety.

The First 30 Days

  • Become familiar with our product by sitting in on 2-3 sales demos and join a Government Affairs planning call.
  • Understand the Accounts, review Flock Safety’s customers. Study past performance metrics: win rates, revenue trends, and customer feedback.
  • Begin meeting with your key stakeholders at Flock including sales leaders, Government Affairs, strategy, marketing, product and more.
  • Get in person with one (or more) LE customer(s).
  • Lay the groundwork to create the strategy to achieve our OKRs, assess timelines and dependencies.
  • Research competitors and their strategies.
  • Evaluate tools and processes used for managing accounts (e.g., CRM systems).

The First 60 Days

  • Develop a State and Agency outreach plan for the next quarter.
  • Develop Strategic Account Plans, create a strategic plan for your major accounts, including: Short-term priorities and deliverables, Long-term goals and objectives, Growth opportunities (e.g., upselling, cross-selling, or expanding the relationship). Include SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis for each account.
  • After creating the initial strategy, the goal is to get in person with some agencies to test it.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration. Work closely with broad Flock Safety teams to assess engagement level. Up-level engagement with strategic account leadership.
  • Leverage Relationships and Partnerships. Engage key government stakeholders and partners. Be present at key stakeholder events and meetings.

90 Days & Beyond

  • You are now comfortable with our product, pitch, and external affairs talking points.
  • You have built a strategy to drive steep growth in state law enforcement and have buy-in across internal teams to make it happen.
  • You are viewed as the conductor internally and you are ready to be the face of Flock to state agencies.
  • Execute Strategic Initiatives: Implement tailored solutions and initiatives outlined in the account plans. Monitor progress and ensure timely delivery of commitments.
  • Strengthen Relationships: Deepen relationships with senior executives and decision-makers within each account. Proactively communicate progress, results, and next steps to maintain transparency.
  • Track Performance and Adjust: Regularly review account KPIs and progress against goals. Gather feedback from both internal teams and account stakeholders to refine your approach.
  • Prepare for Long-Term Success. Refine and formalize account strategies for long-term growth and retention. Document lessons learned and best practices to share with the broader team.
  • Expand Key Strategic Relationships: Establish regular communication with key decision-makers in target agencies. Nurture existing relationships and seek introductions to additional stakeholders.

Salary & Equity

In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary between $X and $X as well as Flock Safety Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in-depth with you during our first chat.
