This role drives governance and oversight of an enterprise-wide £200m annual investment portfolio, shaping Haleon’s D&T investment to align with strategy, establishing governance frameworks, and providing transparency on delivery progress to senior leaders. It involves partnering with stakeholders to define demand and ensure successful end-to-end enterprise commitments.

About the role

Digital and Technology (D&T) in Haleon is responsible for partnering with the business to Transform the business through Technology, IT and Data;, building and operating digital platforms, which are secure, reliable and underpinning everything we do across the company.

The transformation program will touch every part of Haleon, ranging from our business functions (Commercial, R&D, Manufacturing and Corporate) as well as every part of the Digital and Technology (D&T) Function.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join the Digital & Technology team and to:

  • drive governance and oversight of an enterprise-wide £200m annual investment portfolio.
  • help shape and manage Haleon’s Enterprise-wide D&T investment portfolio to ensure Enterprise-wide investment align with Haleon strategy
  • establish enterprise portfolio governance frameworks and provide transparency over delivery progress to senior leaders, including the Haleon Executive Team, with an increased focus on value release.
  • own and maintain a single PPM tool for enterprise

This role will be the primary interface into the business, partnering with senior stakeholders to shape and define demand into D&T and ensure that end-to-end enterprise commitments are successfully delivered. As this is a fast moving and emerging space, this role will be accountable for definition of approach and ways of working in partnership with business & D&T stakeholders. This position is ideal for someone with strong leadership, problem solving, influencing and delivery skills.

The role be pivotal in aligning our Digital & Technology (D&T) priorities with broader transformation efforts across the organisation as well as helping to shape strategy and overseeing governance of multiple complex programs.

The incumbent will also work closely with the head of D&T Delivery to and the evolution of work methodologies within the D&T organization. Their role encompasses the ongoing enhancement of Delivery practices and the facilitation of widespread adoption of Agile principles throughout the D&T organization with a focus on ensuring value is being delivered.

Key Responsibilities

Turning a Digital & Tech Roadmap into Action:

  • Oversee annual and quarterly Business Planning Process, and Business Unit Investment governance. This role is required to drive alignment with the relevant Digital & Tech and functional and BU business leaders and manage across Digital & Tech groups to convert the cross functional strategy into an active and effective portfolio of work.
  • Aligned Digital & Technology priorities for the business: Ensuring that as a global function business priorities are cross functionally ranked and aligned. Influencing senior leaders from across Haleon to take an enterprise view on where to allocate D&T investment funds.

Data-driven Portfolio Management and Governance:

  • The role is accountable to provide oversight to the enterprise of the D&T portfolio of £200m of capital and operating spend, across function of approx. 1100 staff.
  • Bring qualitative and quantitative data into Digital & Tech decision making – drive forums for business and D&T leaders to prioritise strategic initiatives to maximise outcomes against the Haleon purpose and then assure delivery and fiduciary compliance through the application of KPIs, monitoring and performance management.
  • Building and maintaining and Enterprise wide D&T Investment portfolio in excess of £200m annual discretionary investment spend.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise wide delivery performance reports.
  • Facilitate Annual and Quarterly planning sessions

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Enable enterprise prioritization and problem solving.
  • Influence at HET -1 globally across functions and Bus to drive forward transformation to deliver the Haleon purpose.
  • Deputy to VP, Head of Performance, Productivity and Transformation for HET prioritization discussions
  • Negotiate, shape and influence across other business functions and form high performing relationships with leaders across the organisation creating healthy tensions and feedback loops that deliver industry leading ways of working.
  • An enterprise leader running enterprise level forums and committees

Business Facing Roadmaps:

  • Build and maintain portfolio linked business facing 3- and 1-year change roadmaps to provide a holistic view of change programs to the BU’s and Functions.
  • Build and maintain QSC and R&D site specific 3- and 1-year roadmaps.
  • Building and maintaining an Enterprise wide D&T Investment portfolio in excess of £200m annual discretionary investment spend.
  • Build and maintain common portfolio management processes for the enterprise such as risk management, capacity management, and dependency management
  • Own the enterprise PPM tool and maintenance.
  • Work across all functions and BU’s to drive common ways of working for the enterprise wide D&T investment portfolio

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven Leadership in Global Transformation
  • Demonstrated success in leading strategic technology initiatives within large, complex, multinational organisations.
  • Portfolio Governance Expertise:
  • Experience managing complex enterprise-wide investment portfolios, including planning, governance, risk management, and value realization.
  • Delivery Methodological Fluency:
  • Familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies, and the ability to apply them appropriately across different programme phases.
  • Commercial Acumen:
  • Strong understanding of business models and financial metrics, with the ability to align technology strategy to commercial outcomes.
  • Change Management Knowledge:
  • Solid grasp of change management principles and their practical application in transformation environments.

Skills & Capabilities:

  • Problem solving - Being able to identify and solve problems is key to the role. The role holder needs to be able to consider problems that arise from multiple business functions, making sure strategy and governance are flexible enough to respond to changing business need, but robust enough to drive priority decisions on behalf of the enterprise function.
  • Ability to create clarity in complex, interdependent environments and align digital strategy with broader business goals.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, comfortable engaging with senior leaders across functions and tech teams.
  • Skilled in managing delivery risks, resource constraints, and ensuring program alignment across multiple workstreams.
  • Ability to oversee the execution of digital strategy plans, manage PMO functions, and support delivery excellence across the D&T estate.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with transformation offices, technical delivery leads, and program managers.
  • Operates independently and takes 'high impact' cross-functional decisions with autonomy. Consistently exercises judgment to lead resolution of complex problems across entire scope and related interdependencies. Assumes leadership accountability for domain relevant programs/initiatives to ensure key outcomes are met.
  • Vendor Management - significantly contributes to long-term, high value (£m's) strategic relationships with global Technology partners. Leader has general management experience relevant to Haleon's scale and complexity, reflected in their scope of control
  • Stakeholder Mgmt - extensive senior stakeholder mgmt across peer cross-functional leaders, direct and regular executive engagement/influence. Role requires deep knowledge and expertise across multiple 'expert' functional domains. Role sets professional direction across scope to ensure performance across all KPIs and objectives are met.
