Thales in Germany is seeking a Head of Sales and Business Development for Training & Simulation in Germany. This role involves comprehensive responsibility for sales and business development in the German T&S market, aligning with the international portfolio. Key duties include sales planning, control, reporting, and disciplinary leadership of Sales Managers. The position also covers managing offer and demo budgets, T&S-specific marketing, and supporting product strategy definition from a customer perspective. The role is based in Koblenz with hybrid work options.
Must have:
  • Holistically responsible for sales and business development in the Training & Simulation market in Germany.
  • Responsible for sales planning, control, and reporting within the international matrix organization.
  • Disciplinary responsibility for Sales Managers in Koblenz and Wedel.
  • Lateral leadership of the Capture Support / Sales Operations Specialist.
  • Planning and execution of offer and demo budgets, including demos and trade fairs.
  • Ensuring compliance with the offer process.
  • Responsible for T&S-specific marketing in Germany.
  • Supporting product managers in defining product strategies with a customer perspective.
  • Part of T&S-GER and the Thales Germany management team.
  • Based in Koblenz with required on-site presence at least 3 times a week.
Good to have:
  • French language skills are a plus
  • Knowledge of the training and simulation industries (officer career) is an advantage

Your Mission

  • You are holistically responsible for sales and business development in the Training & Simulation market in Germany, considering the Business Line's international portfolio.
  • In this context, you are responsible for sales planning, control, and reporting within the international matrix organization.
  • You are disciplinarily responsible for the Sales Managers at the Koblenz and Wedel locations, and you also have lateral leadership of the Capture Support / Sales Operations Specialist.
  • Planning and execution of the offer and demo budget (including planning and execution of demos and trade fairs in cooperation with the Business Line's and country's marketing) and ensuring compliance with the offer process.
  • Furthermore, you are responsible for T&S-specific marketing in Germany in cooperation with the country and the T&S Business Line.
  • You support our product managers in defining product strategies and always keep the customer perspective in mind.
  • Organizationally, you are part of T&S-GER and the management team.
  • Based in Koblenz (home office possible, but presence on site required at least 3 times a week - daily if necessary).

What we look forward to

  • University degree
  • Many years of experience in sales, business development, strategy, preferably in the defense and/or aerospace industry.
  • Knowledge of German public procurement in the defense sector.
  • Proven leadership experience.
  • Experience in planning and implementing growth strategies with a proven track record.
  • Ability to manage various stakeholders in an international matrix organization.
  • Proactive (yes we can!) thinking, flexibility and resilience.
  • Fluent in German and English, French is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the training and simulation industries (officer career) is an advantage.
  • Based in Koblenz (home office possible, but presence on site required at least 3 times a week - daily if necessary).
