Job Description

The Imaging Systems Engineer at Google's Tech Engineering Imaging and Vision (TEIV) team will design and evaluate camera systems for consumer hardware. This role involves researching mobile imaging applications, writing simulation and processing code (Matlab/Python), experimental validation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams (Optics, Sensors, Calibration, Application Processor, Silicon, Research, and Android Software). Responsibilities include developing camera technology alongside hardware and software teams and delivering innovative imaging solutions. The team focuses on bringing the best of Google's photography experience to users by exploring new imaging hardware and applications.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working as an Imaging Systems Engineer, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Experience in software development in a scripting language such as MATLAB or Python.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience working on computer vision algorithms and computational photography.
  • Experience designing and testing camera hardware systems.
  • Experience with Open Source Computer Vision Library (OpenCV), image capture and analysis using Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) or Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor sensors (CMOS).
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following: Camera calibration, ISP pipelines, and image fusion.
  • Ability to deliver innovative and problem-solving imaging solutions, backed by a demonstrated record.

The Tech Engineering Imaging and Vision (TEIV) Imaging Systems team focuses on design and evaluation of camera systems for Google's consumer hardware. We explore new imaging hardware and applications to help bring the best of Google's photography experience to our users. We work with our partners in Tech Engineering, as well as cross-functionally with the Android Software and Augmented Perception teams to bring immersive new imaging features to Google products.

As an Imaging Systems Engineer in the Tech Engineering team, you will contribute to designing and developing camera systems and applications for consumer hardware. You will work alongside hardware and software teams to develop camera technology.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Research mobile imaging applications through design, analysis, simulation, as well as experimental validation.
