Job Description

The Industrial Engineer 2 plays a key role in analyzing, designing, and optimizing systems and processes within a manufacturing or operations environment. This position supports and leads moderately complex projects focused on improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing product quality. The role requires demonstrated experience in process improvement, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, and involves mentoring junior staff.
Must have:

Position Summary:

Plays a key role in analyzing, designing, and optimizing systems and processes within manufacturing or operations environment. This position supports and leads moderately complex projects aimed at improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing product quality. As a more senior-level engineer, this role requires demonstrated experience in process improvement, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, and serves as a mentor to junior staff.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth analyses of production systems, workflows, and resource utilization.
  • Lead and manage continuous improvement projects using Lean and industrial engineering techniques.
  • Develop and optimize plant layouts, workstation designs, and material flow systems.
  • Perform time studies, establish labor standards, and balance work processes.
  • Partner with departments such as manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and maintenance to implement engineering solutions.
  • Assist with capacity planning, resource forecasting, and simulation modeling.
  • Mentor junior engineers and engineering interns by providing technical guidance.
  • Utilize engineering software tools for data analysis, layout design, and performance modeling.

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

  • Strong knowledge of industrial engineering principles, lean manufacturing, and process optimization.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to influence and drive results in cross-functional environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of ergonomics, safety standards, and quality management systems.
  • Proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD, Excel, Minitab, and simulation software
  • Oracle and Power BI knowledge a plus

Position Qualifications:

Education:

  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on industrial engineering experience in a manufacturing or operations setting.
  • Proven track record of leading or significantly contributing to process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with designing facility layouts and conducting workflow/time studies is a plus
