In 2019, we joined forces with Honda as their first startup acquisition, and now we’re expanding our vision into building the future of electric vehicles (BEV) for millions of people around the world.

Why Drivemode:
Join Drivemode for an exciting startup environment and a vibrant culture that combines impactful work, competitive compensation, and excellent benefits. By becoming a part of our team, you'll contribute to a crucial mission that revolutionizes the way people engage with vehicles, addressing both business needs and the world's environmental challenges. This presents an exceptional opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation and drive Honda's success in the EV market.

About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Platform Engineer to build and scale the foundational infrastructure, developer tooling, and automation that powers our product. You will design, implement, and secure our AWS environments across dev, test, staging, and production. You’ll collaborate closely with mobile and backend engineers to ensure a fast, reliable, and delightful development experience. This is a critical role where you'll shape our infrastructure strategy and implement scalable systems that support rapid iteration and deployment, while maintaining security, compliance, and performance.

Why Join?
Green-field ownership: architect the entire platform from day 0 and influence tech choices.
Developer-first culture: leadership committed to automating toil and lending budget for the right tools.
Career runway: grow into Staff Platform Engineer or Platform Lead as we scale to new regions and products.
Competitive salary, remote flexibility, education budget, and a home-lab hardware stipend.
Help us turn infrastructure into a force multiplier—not a bottleneck. Apply today and build the platform every developer loves to use.

What You Will Do:
  • Cloud Architecture (AWS):  Design and maintain secure, scalable VPCs, IAM boundaries, ALB/NLB, RDS, S3, CloudFront, and multi-AZ / multi-region patterns using Terraform (preferred) or AWS CDK.
  • Environment Provisioning: Automate dev / test / staging / prod stacks with one-click or GitOps workflows; bake in tagging, logging, and policy-as-code (OPA, AWS SCPs).
  • CI/CD & Build Infrastructure: Own GitHub Actions: self-hosted Linux & macOS runners (for Kotlin & Swift), caching, secrets, release gating, and rollback automation.
  • Kubernetes & Containers: Operate EKS clusters, manage Helm charts, service meshes, and implement progressive delivery (blue/green, canary).
  • Observability & Performance: Build Datadog dashboards, log/trace pipelines, synthetic probes, and capacity-planning playbooks; integrate cost metrics for FinOps visibility.
  • Security & Compliance: Embed security scanning, secrets / KMS management, network segmentation, and security evidence collection into every workflow.
  • Disaster Recovery & BCP: Define RPO/RTO targets, automate backups and cross-region replication, and run game-day drills.
  • Developer Experience:  Provide dev-containers, local-stack scripts, and golden-path docs that cut onboarding to minutes; champion inner-source contributions to the platform.
  • Collaboration & Coaching: Pair with SREs and feature teams, review IaC PRs, and run brown-bag sessions on cloud/k8s best practices.

What We Are Looking For:
  • 3+ years building and operating AWS infrastructure at scale
  • Expert-level Terraform (or CDK/Pulumi) and solid GitHub Actions experience
  • Hands-on Kubernetes/EKS administration and Helm/charting skills
  • Strong Linux, networking, and security fundamentals (VPC, IAM, TLS, WAF)
  • Scripting/automation in Python, Bash, or Go
  • Proven experience with Datadog (or Prometheus/Otel) for metrics, logs & traces
  • Familiarity with cost-analysis / FinOps tooling and basic budgeting workflows
  • Excellent written & verbal communication; able to write crisp runbooks and RFCs

Nice to have:
  • One or more AWS Professional level certifications
  • Kubernetes Certified Administrator (CKA)
  • Experience running macOS CI runners and mobile build tooling
  • Policy-as-code and infrastructure security scanners
  • Chaos-engineering tools
