Job Description

Thales’ Innovation Team in Canada is looking for a talented engineer with a great appetite to solve complex challenges, applying software engineering to critical AI projects. The team aims to design and implement cutting-edge solutions by incorporating safe, robust, trustworthy, and certifiable AI capabilities. The engineer will discover, develop, and integrate innovative methodologies, proving viability through Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and guiding maturity growth through prototypes and demonstrators to illustrate full business potential.
Must have:
  • Research and develop innovative solutions to validate and verify AI robustness for real applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to translate research into deployable prototypes and production systems.
  • Support the deployment of reliable and certifiable AI models.
  • Contribute to the innovation ecosystem by proposing new ideas and active technology watch.
  • Systematic approach to protecting intellectual property through patents.
  • Share knowledge, collect system requirements from stakeholders, and shape research and innovation roadmaps.
  • Bachelor or master’s degree in computer science.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in Software Development.
  • Solid theoretical knowledge and understanding of AI fundamentals.
  • Solid skills in front-end and back-end software development (TypeScript, Golang, NodeJs, C#).
  • Solid skills in Cloud ecosystem and architecture (Docker, Google Cloud).
  • Critical thinker with ability to communicate scientific work clearly and effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to think creatively and strategically.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration and research dissemination.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).

The team aims to design and implement cutting-edge solutions by incorporating safe, robust, trustworthy, and certifiable AI capabilities.

Essential Functions

An Innovation and Applied AI Engineer is responsible for discovering, developing and integrating innovative methodologies to address complex challenges in these fields and to translate related concepts into Thales solutions. He/she proves their viability through the implementation of Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and guides their maturity growth through prototypes and demonstrators that will in turn illustrate and enable their full business potential.

AI/Innovation Engineer Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and develop innovative solutions to validate and verify the robustness of AI and diverse technologies for real applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to translate research advances into deployable prototypes and production-ready systems.
  • Work on problems of diverse scope to support the deployment of reliable and certifiable AI models.
  • Contribute to the innovation ecosystem by proposing new innovation ideas and keeping an active technology watch.
  • Intellectual property: systematic approach to protecting our intellectual property through patents
  • Communication: knowledge sharing with other teams, suggest, collect, and synthesize system requirements from stakeholders and contribute to shaping effective research and innovation roadmaps.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in computer science
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in Software Development
  • Solid theoretical knowledge and understanding of AI fundamentals.
  • Solid Skills:
  • front-end and back-end software development (TypeScript, Golang, NodeJs, C#, etc. ...)
  • Cloud ecosystem and architecture (Docker, Google Cloud, etc.....)
  • Critical thinker with ability to communicating scientific work in a clear and effective manner.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to think creatively and strategically.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration and dissemination of research.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • This position requires a good knowledge of English for writing technical documents, interacting with, supporting, and/or providing services to international clients, employees, and/or partners, as well as foreign government authorities who do not speak French.
