Our challenge
We are seeking a skilled Securitization IDP (Intelligent Document Processing) Developer to join our banking technology team. The role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing automated solutions to process and extract data from securitization-related documents such as loan tapes, offering circulars, pooling & servicing agreements, and investor reports. The ideal candidate will combine expertise in IDP tools (e.g., ABBYY, UiPath Document Understanding, Kofax, Azure Form Recognizer, etc.) with a solid understanding of banking and securitization workflows.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Toronto, ON is CAD $115k – CAD $125k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and deploy Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) workflows to automate data extraction from complex financial and securitization documents.
- Collaborate with business, risk, and operations teams to understand document structures and key data points.
- Develop and maintain data extraction models using OCR, NLP, and ML-based tools.
- Integrate IDP solutions with core banking systems, data lakes, and ETL pipelines.
- Optimize and train models for improved accuracy, validation, and exception handling.
- Develop and maintain document classification and validation rules.
- Participate in testing, troubleshooting, and deployment of new features.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specs, configuration details, and user guides.
- Work closely with data engineers and analysts to ensure accurate and timely data delivery for securitization reporting.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of experience in IDP / Document Automation development, preferably in banking or financial services.
- Hands-on experience with one or more IDP tools such as ABBYY FlexiCapture, UiPath Document Understanding, Kofax, Azure AI Document Intelligence, or Hyperscience.
- Strong understanding of OCR, NLP, and ML techniques for data extraction and validation.
- Familiarity with banking loan data, securitization processes, and structured finance documentation.
- Experience with Python, .NET, or Java for custom automation and integration scripts.
- Knowledge of SQL, APIs, and ETL pipelines for downstream data use.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to data accuracy and process quality.
- Experience in capital markets, structured finance, or asset-backed securities (ABS/MBS) data processing.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience working with data governance and compliance frameworks within financial institutions.
- Certification in IDP or RPA technologies (e.g., UiPath Advanced Developer, ABBYY Certified Specialist).
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Strong collaboration with business, data, and operations stakeholders.
- Ability to work in agile environments and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred, but not required:
- Certifications in IDP tools or related technologies.
- Prior experience working in financial institutions or securitization projects.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
