The IT Asset Engineer will be responsible for maintaining an up-to-date inventory of all IT assets, collaborating on procurement, ensuring license compliance, and managing the entire lifecycle of IT assets from acquisition to disposal. This role involves cost control, vendor management, policy development, auditing, and reporting to senior management, ensuring security and data protection throughout.
Must have:
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all IT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and subscriptions.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to purchase IT assets and software licenses in a cost-effective and compliant manner.
  • Monitor software licenses to ensure compliance with vendor agreements, track license usage, and manage renewals.
  • Allocate IT assets to users and departments based on need and ensure optimal utilization.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and eliminate underutilized or redundant IT assets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with IT vendors and negotiate favorable contracts and pricing.
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of IT assets, from procurement to disposal or recycling, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Develop and enforce IT asset management policies and procedures to standardize asset acquisition and usage.
  • Perform regular audits to ensure compliance with asset management policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Create and present regular reports on IT asset utilization, costs, and performance to senior management.
  • Ensure that all IT assets are secured and that sensitive data is protected throughout the asset lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in IT asset management and software licensing.
  • Strong knowledge of IT procurement and vendor management.
  • Familiarity with software asset management tools and methodologies.
  • Understanding of IT compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
  • IT certifications (e.g., ITIL, CompTIA A+, Certified Software Asset Manager) are a plus.
