About the Role
As a Prop Artist at a small independent studio, you’ll have a wide range of responsibilities from creating art, communicating with production, receiving and implementing feedback and working with other artists and designers to execute the vision for the games we make.
Responsibilities
- Produce photorealistic prop assets and architecture using pipelines set by the projects needs
- Ensure prop asset functionality and optimization across the game
- Generate and balance materials on prop assets in Unreal Engine
- See playable environment assets through from conception to completion
- Work closely with the art and design teams to implement assets you create
Requirements
- An exceptional portfolio of work that exemplifies the creation of high-quality photorealistic prop assets and architectural set pieces
- Strong Knowledge of one of the following DCC tools: Maya, 3ds Max, Blender or equivalent modeling software.
- Strong knowledge of texturing DCC tools: Photoshop, Substance Painter and Substance Designer
- Strong knowledge of high-poly sculpting tools: Zbrush, Mudbox or equivalent
- Strong understanding of how objects age, wear down, or break
- 3+ years of professional game development experience
- Strong knowledge of game environment development processes; hard surface modeling, sculpting, retopo, baking, uvs, texturing, cloth simulations
- Strong modeling skills and the ability to create assets from scratch or from a scanned photogrammetry base
- Good understanding of tiling textures, unreal materials and how to use texture masks/vert colour baking to allow for variation across a props surface
- Ability to provide and receive in-depth critiques to help elevate your work and the work of other artists
- Ability to work under tight deadlines

- English speaking
- Willingness to move to Toronto or authorized to work in Canada
