Job Description

As the Lead AV Tech, you’ll combine hands-on technical expertise with team leadership to ensure all audiovisual systems across the Brooklyn Campus run seamlessly. From production studios to events and member programming, you’ll be the go-to resource for AV operations while mentoring and supervising the AV Tech Team. This role blends problem-solving, technical skill, and hospitality to deliver a world-class experience for members, guests, and partners.
Must have:
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot AV systems, including audio, video, and lighting equipment
  • Set up and break down AV for events, brand activations, and programming
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks and handle minor repairs on AV systems
  • Lead and coach the AV Tech Team, providing real-time support and technical training
  • Manage team scheduling and coverage in partnership with the Studio and Production Manager
  • Serve as a key holder for AV storage and campus equipment
  • Support members in using studio and AV equipment, offering guidance and troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with Events and Production teams to meet technical needs for activations
  • Ensure AV-related areas remain clean, organized, and safe
  • Communicate performance updates and technical issues to campus leadership
  • 2+ years of AV technology experience (event spaces, film/TV, theater, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of audio systems, lighting, cameras, projectors, and software
  • Strong problem-solving skills; able to adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Hospitality-driven mindset with a member-first approach
  • Strong communication and coaching skills
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 55 lbs and working on ladders when needed
  • Curious, collaborative, and passionate about sharing AV knowledge
Good to have:
  • Supervisory experience with a small team preferred (2–5 direct reports)

Here’s what we’re looking for:

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift equipment up to 55 lbs.
  • Comfort working on ladders or elevated platforms.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
  • Mobility throughout campus and production studios.
