The Lead Database Administrator manages the IT infrastructure, including server applications and hardware, requiring knowledge of Nasdaq data and its relation to database systems. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and implementing solutions for IT needs through new and existing applications, system architecture, network systems, and applications infrastructure. The role involves managing database management systems across multiple platforms, designing summary tables, directing the work of other DBAs, designing database support tools, and developing relationships with database software vendors. For Data Warehouse Specialists, this includes driving data warehouse projects and implementing data mining tools.
Must have:
  • Manage database management systems across multiple platforms.
  • Design and implement database support tools, tables, and dictionaries.
  • Direct the work of other DBAs and developers.
Good to have:
  • Microsoft, Oracle or other professional DBA certification.
  • Experience in data mining tools and analyses.

Job Details

Manages the Information Technology (IT) infrastructure within an organization, including the physical Configures, installs, maintains and upgrades server applications and hardware. Required to have knowledge and understanding of Nasdaq data and how it relates to database systems. Management of systems in such a way as to leverage the existing technologies, improvement of the system as a whole. Close collaboration with network, systems, storage, and development teams.

Designs, develops, modifies, adapts and implements short- and long-term solutions to information technology (IT) needs through new and existing applications, systems architecture, network systems and applications infrastructure. Reviews system requirements and business processes; codes, tests, debugs and implements software solutions.

  • Crossing various disciplines and teams manages database management systems including database design, testing, implementation, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environment.
  • Designs required summary or aggregation tables to support analyses working across various disciplines. 
  • Directs the work of other DBAs and developers to identify data relationships and functional requirements.
  • Designs and implements database support tools, database tables and dictionaries, recovery and backup procedures.
  • Crossing various disciplines, analyzes, designs, creates and implements databases, including data models, logical and physical databases, data dictionaries and schemas, access methods, device allocations, validation checks, organization and security.
  • Develops relationships with database software vendors and external technical support on issues such as software upgrades, problems and potential solutions to align the overall IT strategy.
  • For Data Warehouse Specialists:
  • Crossing various disciplines and teams, drives data warehouses and/or data mart projects.
  • Designs, develops and implements data mining tools and analyses to sift through large amounts of data stored in a data warehouse or data mart to find relationships and patterns.

  • Education Required:  Bachelors or Masters’ Degree in Computer Science, MIS or other related discipline, or equivalent work experience.  
  • Experience Required:  At least 10 years
  • Special Qualifications:  Microsoft, Oracle or other professional DBA certification.
