Job Description

LightSpeed LA is searching for a Lead Graphics Engineer to join their Irvine, CA studio. The role involves owning the VFX rendering pipeline and tools, collaborating with the VFX team to optimize the system and implement innovative solutions. Responsibilities include designing and implementing new rendering techniques, addressing feature requests with performance and maintainability in mind, and creating high-quality visuals. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in video game development, ideally with Unreal Engine, a strong understanding of modern GPU architecture and relevant APIs (DX12, Vulkan), proficiency in shader languages (HLSL/GLSL), and excellent debugging skills. Mentoring other engineers is also a key aspect of the position.

LightSpeed LA is seeking for a talented and enthusiastic Lead Graphics Engineer to join our new studio in sunny Irvine California. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for games and enabling content creators to deliver the most polished experience for our players and push the boundaries of what we can do today. Position Overview
With Lightspeed's global growth and development, looking for a highly ambitious and driven individuals who are keen to embark on this "tech for good, value for users" journey with us!
  • Help maintain a culture of fast iteration and practical problem solving
  • Own the VFX rendering pipeline and tools
  • Work with the VFX team to get the most out of the system and implement new solutions to enable them to push the bar higher
  • Evolve iteratively existing systems into state of the art solutions
  • Design and implement new and existing rendering related techniques
  • Implement innovative solutions to feature requests, taking account performance, maintainability and appropriate resource usage, creating stunning industry defining visuals
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze technical constraints and establish solutions
  • Mentor other engineers, help engineer team to solve the technical problems

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in video game development, Unreal engine experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding graphic technologies, experiences with physical simulation will be a plus
  • Thorough understanding of modern GPU architecture, such as PC / PS / XBOX
  • Experience with DX12, Vulkan or other modern graphics or compute APIs
  • Experience with HLSL/GLSL or other equivalent Shader languages
  • Deep understanding of performance considerations, with ability to design and implement well performance systems/features
  • Proven ability to debug defects of a reasonable complexity, including memory related issues, multi-threading, and assembly level debugging
  • Good communication skills that support an open and enthusiastic working environment
  • Self-driven with a strong sense of quality

Preferred:

  • Experience working on AAA games
  • Shipped a title on PC and/or Consoles

The base pay range for this position in the state(s) above is $150,000 to $275,500 per year. Actual pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign on payment, relocation package, and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, as well as other medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the specific position offered.
