Salesforce is seeking a Lead Network Engineer to join their Enterprise Technology & Infrastructure team. This role involves ensuring timely resolution of network issues, performing high-level diagnostics, and isolating hardware/software problems. Responsibilities include break/fix services, proactive network maintenance, and collaborating with engineering teams to enhance stability. The engineer will provide third-line customer support, drive service ownership for the Network Cloud, and contribute to process improvements and automation. A Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in network engineering, with skills in routing, switching, security, automation (Ansible, Python), Terraform, DevOps, Wireshark, and TCP/IP, are required.
Must have:
  • Ensure all network issues are resolved in a timely manner with minimal customer impact.
  • Perform high-level diagnosing and analysis to resolve root cause of network outages.
  • Implement workarounds and/or permanent solutions for network issues.
  • Isolate hardware and software problems on network devices.
  • Work with vendors to resolve network issues.
  • Perform break/fix services including RMAs, routing changes, traffic engineering, and DDoS mitigation.
  • Perform proactive network maintenance like code upgrades, hardware refreshes, and config updates.
  • Conduct peering/transit turnups, cleanup, and decoms.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve network stability and decrease future outages.
  • Provide third-line customer support and technical expertise for network-related issues.
  • Drive service ownership for the Network Cloud.
  • Assist in streamlining problem and change management processes.
  • Improve alerting and incident handling.
  • Increase automation within the network.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Five years of experience in network engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Routing, Switching, and Network Security.
  • Experience with Network Automation using Ansible and Python.
  • Familiarity with Terraform infrastructure as code.
  • Experience with Network DevOps practices.
  • Proficiency in Packet Capture and Analysis using Wireshark.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP.

Salesforce Inc. seeks Lead Network Engineer in San Francisco, CA:

Job Duties: Ensure all network issues are resolved in a timely manner, with minimal impact on customers. Perform high-level diagnosing and analysis to resolve the root cause of network outages and implement workarounds and/or permanent solutions. Isolate hardware and software problems on network devices and work with vendors to resolve issues. Perform break/fix services like RMAs, routing changes/traffic engineering, DDoS mitigation, etc. Perform proactive network maintenance, such as code upgrades, hardware refreshes, config updates, peering/transit turnups, and cleanup/decoms. Collaborate closely with engineering teams to identify ways in which we can proactively improve the stability of the network and decrease potential for future outages to occur. Provide third-line customer support and technical expertise for network-related issues. Drive service ownership for the Network Cloud; assist in efforts to streamline problem and change management processes, improve alerting and incident handling, and increase automation. ˆHQ address additionally encompasses the following Salesforce locations in San Francisco: 350 Mission Street, 415 Mission Street, and 50 Fremont Street. The permanent position may be offered at any of these locations in San Francisco. Telecommuting is an option. Some travel to Salesforce offices may be required.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or its foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or a related quantitative discipline, and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in any occupation in related field.

A related technical degree required (Computer Science, Engineering (any field)).

Special Skill Requirements: (1) Routing, Switching, and Network Security; (2) Network Automation using Ansible and Python; (3) Terraform infrastructure as code; (4) Network DevOps; (5) Packet Capture and Analysis using Wireshark; and (6) TCP/IP . Any suitable combination of education, training and/or experience is acceptable. Telecommuting is an option. Some travel to Salesforce offices may be required.

Salary: $201,573.00 - $276,100.00 per annum.
