Job Description

The Load Planner will optimize daily load planning using TMS and WMS, overseeing transportation coordination for efficiency. Responsibilities include applying independent judgment for load allocation, route optimization, and managing dispatch. The role requires understanding operational markets, collaborating with teams, and making informed decisions on load changes while ensuring DOT compliance and safety. Professional communication and fostering a collaborative environment are also key.
Good To Have:
  • Prior experience in load planning and supply chain operations preferred.
  • Proficiency in WMS, TMS preferred.
Must Have:
  • Optimize load planning daily using the Transportation Management System and Warehouse Management System.
  • Oversee the comprehensive planning and coordination of transportation services to maximize operational efficiency and productivity.
  • Apply independent judgment and discretion, utilizing network balance capacity tools to determine truck locations and available customer loads.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the assigned operational market and strategize load acceptance plans accordingly.
  • Manage the successful dispatch of planned loads and maintain ownership of load execution within the assigned area.
  • Collaborate closely with designated department teams to oversee and maintain customer trailer pools.
  • Make informed decisions regarding late pickups, deliveries, and any load changes, cancellations, or reassignments.
  • Exercise discretion in ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain professional, effective, and timely communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

Job Description

  • Optimize load planning daily using the Transportation Management System and Warehouse Management System.
  • Oversee the comprehensive planning and coordination of transportation services to maximize operational efficiency and productivity.
  • Apply independent judgment and discretion, utilizing network balance capacity tools to determine truck locations and available customer loads. Tailor planning to meet regional needs, including load allocation, route optimization, and adjustments or cancellations.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the assigned operational market and strategize load acceptance plans accordingly. Leverage independent judgment and decision-support tools to ensure customer service requirements are met.
  • Manage the successful dispatch of planned loads and maintain ownership of load execution within the assigned area.
  • Collaborate closely with designated department teams to oversee and maintain customer trailer pools. Work alongside other planning centers to coordinate network strategies and execute agreed-upon plans.
  • Make informed decisions regarding late pickups, deliveries, and any load changes, cancellations, or reassignments, ensuring timely communication with relevant personnel.
  • Exercise discretion in ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and safety guidelines, validating driver hours of service to facilitate safe and legal load planning.
  • Maintain professional, effective, and timely communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that supports business operations and company objectives.

Salary: $22 - $24/hr.

Qualifications

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), WMS, TMS preferred.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Experience: Prior experience in load planning and supply chain operations preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
