Job Summary

Netflix is seeking an experienced Content Acquisitions Manager for the Italian market. The role involves proactively sourcing and identifying series, film, and nonfiction content, building strong relationships with external partners, and leading deal negotiations. The manager will collaborate cross-functionally on strategy and execution, act as the creative lead on pre-buys, and provide creative input throughout development and production stages. This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract for parental leave.

Must Have

  • Proactively source and identify series, film and nonfiction content for the Italian market.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners.
  • Lead all aspects of deal negotiation (financial analysis, forecasting, commercial terms, drafting contracts and amendments).
  • Work closely with the Italian content team to develop the slate and identify opportunities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on strategy and execution with Content Operations, Legal, and Finance.
  • Be the creative lead on pre-buys, working with external partners and supporting with creative input.
  • Demonstrable experience in Acquisitions, Sales and/ or Distribution roles, including creative execution skillset.
  • Experience with the selection and development of Films and Series.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Italian media landscape, including a strong network with producers and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of current media politics regarding windowing, theatrical buyouts, and investment obligations.
  • Previous experience with Scripted Series, Films, and Nonfiction.
  • Negotiation skills for all deal forms (pre-buy, pay, library, 2nd run).
  • A creative, curious and strategic mind to think outside the box and optimize structures and deals.
  • An affinity for working cross-functionally and cross-culturally.
  • Commercial and strategic thinking and experience with broadly appealing content for the audience.
  • Experience with leveraging data in decision-making.
  • Creative execution experience in series and filmmaking and willing to work deeply embedded in the creative teams.
  • Enthusiastic about Netflix culture.
  • Experience working with a streaming service, broadcaster or distribution/production company.
  • Fluency with English and Italian.

We are seeking an experienced Content Acquisitions Manager for the Italian market. The ideal candidate will have excellent industry relationships to source and acquire licensed content for Netflix. They also will be experienced with various deal structures and have expertise with quantitative analytics, negotiation, managing multiple projects and working to find creative solutions internally and externally.

Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Proactively source and identify series, film and nonfiction content that will bring joy to our members in the Italian market, both ready-made and on a script level.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including producers, distributors, broadcasters etc.
  • Lead all aspects of deal negotiation (financial analysis, forecasting, commercial terms, drafting contracts and amendments)
  • Work closely with the other members of the Italian content team to develop the slate and identify opportunities for enhancement or collaboration as well as creative exchange across teams
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on strategy and execution with Content Operations, Legal, and Finance.
  • Be the creative lead on pre-buys for Netflix, working with external partners and supporting with creative input at development, pre-production, production and post stages.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience in Acquisitions, Sales and/ or Distribution roles, including creative execution skillset
  • Experience with the selection and development of Films and Series , able to build excellent relationships with producers and creative talent and offer creative input.
  • An in-depth knowledge of the Italian media landscape, including a strong network with both the producers community, as well as with sales executives and all relevant stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the current media politics when it comes to windowing, theatrical buyouts, and investment obligations.
  • Previous experience with a range of content including, Scripted Series, Films, and Nonfiction.
  • Negotiation skills for all deal forms (pre-buy, pay, library, 2nd run) and familiar with all relevant terms and conditions
  • A creative, curious and strategic mind to think outside the box and optimize structures and deals.
  • An affinity for working cross-functionally and cross-culturally.
  • Commercial and strategic thinking and experience with broadly appealing content for the audience.
