Job Description

The Marketing Director leads the marketing division, developing and executing campaigns for Sony Pictures releases, including local productions in Taiwan. This role involves supervising advertising, publicity, digital/social, and promotion tie-ins. Leading a team of four, the director will maximize film potential through precise positioning, creativity, and innovation, working closely with the head office to tailor marketing approaches for the Taiwan market and ensure appropriate creative materials support each campaign direction.
Must have:
  • Initiate and develop marketing campaigns.
  • Supervise advertising, publicity, digital/social and promotion tie-in plans.
  • Lead a team of 4 to maximize film potential.
  • Work closely with head office on marketing approach for Taiwan.
  • Strive for appropriate creatives/materials for campaigns.
  • Collect and analyze information on upcoming movies.
  • Liaise with head office on creatives/materials supply/modification.
  • Conduct roadshow presentations for partners, media, and exhibitors.
  • Anchor precise positioning for each film with marketing team.
  • Initiate and develop Marketing & Distribution Plan and Ad pub budgets.
  • Control marketing budget and expenses.
  • Prepare and submit various reports per established timelines.
  • Oversee film title localization and supervise dubbing.
  • Sync marketing/sales/digital agencies on trailer debuts timings.
  • Supervise translation/localization/subtitling/cards generation and approval.
  • Attend market/film conferences, presentations, and regular calls.
  • Monitor competitors’ activities and marketing intelligence.
  • Inspire the marketing team and conduct brainstorming sessions.
  • Provide Marketing support for local films and productions under SPIP.
  • Fulfil other miscellaneous tasks through internal systems.
  • University degree in marketing, business, mass communication, advertising, or film.
  • Over 10 years of experience in film distribution, broadcasting, media, or film industries.
  • Minimum 3 years’ senior managerial experience in marketing or entertainment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English and Chinese.
  • Exceptional marketing sense and ability to develop local strategies.
  • Ability to conduct best integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Passionate towards movie, media, and entertainment industry trends.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, time, and priority management skills.
  • Strong team leader and player, organized, efficient, multi-tasking.
  • Ability to handle pressure.
  • Strong integrity.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications and PowerPoint presentation skill.
  • Appropriate immigration permission to work and reside in Taiwan.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing Director is the head of marketing division who initiates and develops marketing campaigns, supervises advertising, publicity, digital/social and promotion tie-in plans/executions for all Sony Pictures releases including local productions in Taiwan. He/she will lead a team of 4 to maximize film potential through precise positioning, creativity and innovation. Working closely with head office to decide the best marketing approach for Taiwan market, the incumbent is responsible to strive for the most appropriate creatives/materials to support each campaign direction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect and analyze information on our upcoming movies and study home office strategy on our titles
  • Liaise with head office on creatives/materials supply/modification for Taiwan market
  • Conduct roadshow presentation for partners/media/exhibitors when needed
  • Anchor precise positioning for each film with marketing team
  • Initiate and develop Marketing & Distribution Plan, Ad pub budgets and submit for approvals
  • Supervise advertising, publicity, digital/social and promotion tie-ins execution and quality
  • Control marketing budget and expense
  • Prepare and submit reports per established timelines, including but not limited to, Ad pub submission, campaign summary, marketing decks with big ideas, in-situs decks, feedback on creatives/materials to head office, post-mortem reports, and ad hoc/special requests
  • Oversee film title localization (generation/rationale support) and supervise dubbing, including talents selection, recording and quality control
  • Sync marketing/sales / digital agencies on timings for trailer debuts
  • Supervise translation/localization / subtitling/cards generation and approval (working with Sales)
  • Attend market/film conferences, presentations and regular conference calls
  • Monitor competitors’ activities and marketing intelligence and strategies
  • Inspire the marketing team and conduct brainstorming sessions to generate ideas, and create training opportunities for marketing team
  • Provide Marketing support for local films and local productions under SPIP
  • Fulfil other miscellaneous tasks through internal systems and in compliance with internal controls

KEY QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • University or above education, degree in marketing, business, or mass communication, advertising, or film related field.
  • Seasoned professional with over 10 years of experience in film distribution, broadcasting, media or film industries, including Minimum 3 years’ senior managerial experience in marketing, agency, media, digital or entertainment industry is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, in both English and Chinese
  • Exceptional marketing sense, ability to develop local marketing strategies with precise positioning and conduct best integrated marketing campaigns for various genres and titles
  • Passionate and sensitive towards movie, media and entertainment industry and trends
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, time and priority management skills
  • Strong team leader and player, organized, efficient and able to handle multi-tasking and prioritize workload for the team
  • Ability to handle pressure
  • Strong integrity
  • Proficient with MS Office applications and PowerPoint presentation skill is essential, able to use Mac preferred

In order to enable us to meet the statutory and regulatory obligations of the Taiwan immigration system, you must have the appropriate immigration permission needed to work as an employee and reside in Taiwan for the duration of the employment.
