Job Description

Valeo's engine cooling plant in Skawina is seeking a Materials Research Engineer to support the team in testing and analyzing materials for automotive components. The role involves conducting mechanical, physicochemical, and structural material tests, operating laboratory equipment, analyzing results, and collaborating with R&D, production, and quality departments. The engineer will also participate in supplier qualification and material approval processes, and assist in resolving material issues and component failures. Candidates should have a technical degree, at least 5 years of laboratory or R&D experience, knowledge of material testing standards, and excellent English.

  • Conducting tests of mechanical, physicochemical, and structural properties of materials (metals, plastics, composites)
  • Operating laboratory equipment (including SEM, X-ray, strength testing machines, spectrometers)
  • Developing research reports and analyzing results
  • Cooperation with R&D, production, and quality departments in the assessment of new and used materials
  • Participation in supplier qualification and material approval processes
  • Support in solving material problems and component failures
  • Higher technical education: materials engineering, chemistry, mechanics, or related
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in laboratory or research and development work
  • Knowledge of material testing methods and standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM, VDA)
  • Ability to operate modern research equipment
  • Very good knowledge of English – allowing for free oral and written communication in a technical and professional context

The engine cooling plant in Skawina is the largest and oldest Valeo location in Poland. The plant designs and produces the latest generation of innovative heat exchangers, i.e., engine radiators, oil coolers, turbocharger coolers, air conditioning, and complete engine cooling systems (cooling modules), which, in addition to their basic functions, allow for reduced fuel consumption and emissions of harmful substances, including carbon dioxide.

Currently, at the engine cooling plant in Skawina, we are recruiting for the position of a Materials Research Engineer, who will support the team in testing and analyzing materials used in automotive components.

Your challenges:

  • Conducting tests of mechanical, physicochemical, and structural properties of materials (metals, plastics, composites)
  • Operating laboratory equipment (including SEM, X-ray, strength testing machines, spectrometers)
  • Developing research reports and analyzing results
  • Cooperation with R&D, production, and quality departments in the assessment of new and used materials
  • Participation in supplier qualification and material approval processes
  • Support in solving material problems and component failures

  • Higher technical education: materials engineering, chemistry, mechanics, or related
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in laboratory or research and development work (automotive industry experience welcome)
  • Knowledge of material testing methods and standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM, VDA)
  • Ability to operate modern research equipment
  • Very good knowledge of English – allowing for free oral and written communication in a technical and professional context.
  • Independence, analytical thinking, accuracy
