Job Description

As Mechanical Design Office Manager on a cutting-edge Bordeaux Campus, you will lead a team, manage projects from design to conception, ensuring cost, deadline, and performance commitments are met. You will also oversee offers, guarantee DFM principles are applied for product optimization, manage multi-site disciplines, drive innovation roadmaps, and ensure precise documentation adhering to industry standards. This role involves hierarchical organization of two multi-site departments and reports to the competence center's CODIR.
Must have:
  • Manage team objectives, performance evaluations, and training.
  • Pilot charges/staffing process and recruitments.
  • Lead project execution, ensuring cost, deadline, and performance.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders on technical orientations and difficulties.
  • Validate NRC quotes for offers.
  • Ensure DFM principles are applied for product design optimization.
  • Manage multi-site disciplines (PCB Design Office, Component Engineering, Mechanics).
  • Define Make/Team/Buy strategy for disciplines.
  • Define/contribute to R&T and technology roadmaps for future products.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with industry standards.
  • BAC+5 (engineering school or equivalent) and confirmed experience in mechanical development.
  • Proficient in industrial packaging, electronics, and aeronautical product design rules.
  • Knowledge of DFM principles and manufacturing processes (DFA, DFM, CCO, PCB/PCBA, machining, foundry, assembly).
  • Familiar with development and industrial frameworks (Chorus DDQS, PMD, APQP, Lean Management).
  • Experience in international multi-cultural environments with oral and written English.

Your daily life

On a cutting-edge Bordeaux Campus, between ocean and vineyards, we design and develop systems, equipment, and services to ensure the success of our clients' airborne missions.

As Mechanical Design Office Manager, your main missions will be:

Team Management: Set objectives and conduct performance evaluations, define training. Pilot the charges/staffing process and recruitments.

Project, Design, and Conception Management: Pilot the execution of work in the project phase in compliance with our commitments on costs, deadlines, and performance. Collaborate with project stakeholders in this phase (changes in technical orientations, handling technical difficulties, additional resources).

Offer Management: Validate NRC quotes.

Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Ensure (in collaboration with industrial teams) that DFM principles are applied to optimize product designs (manufacturability and reduction of production costs).

Discipline Management: Manage multi-site disciplines within your scope (PCB Design Office, Component Engineering, Mechanics). Define the Make/Team/Buy strategy for your discipline.

Innovations and continuous improvement: Define/contribute to R&T and technology roadmaps for future products.

Documentation and standards: Ensure the production of accurate documentation and compliance with industry standards and current regulations.

In addition, the position includes a hierarchical organization of 2 departments across a multi-site footprint. The position reports to the competence center's CODIR.

Your profile:

You have a BAC+5 (engineering school or equivalent) and confirmed experience in:

  • a position in mechanical development

In-depth knowledge is also required in the following areas:

  • Industrial packaging technologies, electronics, and aeronautical product design rules,
  • Transformation and improvement activities (processes/practices, tools, behavior) and innovation support,
  • DFM principles and manufacturing processes (DFA, DFM, CCO, mastery of PCB/PCBA/mechanical manufacturing sectors (machining, foundry), assembly processes (screwing, gluing)),
  • Development and industrial frameworks (Chorus DDQS, PMD, APQP, Lean Management),
  • Experience collaborating in an international multi-cultural environment (oral and written English)
