INTERNSHIP - Embedded Android Software Engineer - M/F

As an Embedded Android Software Engineer intern, you will join the MultiMedia Processing service at Thales' Hardware Tools & Engineering center in Cholet. Your mission will be to develop solutions for audio and video analysis and compression for radio systems, particularly for drones and terrestrial vehicles. You will focus on low-bitrate speech coding for these radios, creating a demonstrator combining an Android terminal and a portable radio system. This involves defining architecture, integrating existing speech processing solutions, evaluating performance, and creating a CivATAK plug-in.

Must Have

• Last year of engineering school or Master 2 in computer science and embedded software
• Proficiency in C/C++ language
• Comfortable with Android and Linux environments
• Rigorous, curious, critical thinking, and autonomous

Good to Have

• First experience in embedded software development solutions
• Knowledge in automatic speech processing and/or signal processing

Your daily life

6-month internship located in Cholet (49)

Within the Hardware Tools & Engineering (HTE) center, you will join the MultiMedia Processing service which develops audio & video analysis and compression solutions for radio systems, particularly for drones and terrestrial vehicles.

The service is interested in low-bitrate speech coding for these radios.

Android platforms, via Android Team Awareness Kit, offer an adapted ergonomic interface.

You will participate in the creation of a demonstrator associating an Android terminal and a portable radio system, supervised by an engineer, a speech processing specialist, and the support of the radio team.

Your missions:

• Define the demonstrator architecture, Android implementation (Smartphone S21)
• Integrate existing speech processing solutions: low-bitrate coding and noise reduction by AI and validation of communication between two Android terminals
• Evaluate the solution according to complexity, memory, latency, phonie quality
• Create a plug-in in CivATAK for radio validation

Your profile:

Are you in your final year of engineering school or a scientific Master 2 with a specialization in computer science and embedded software?

Do you ideally have a first experience in embedded software solution development?

Do you master the C/C++ language?

Are you comfortable with Android and Linux environments?

Do you have knowledge in automatic speech processing and/or signal processing?

Are your rigor, curiosity, critical thinking, and autonomy recognized assets?
