Member of Technical Staff, Backend (Enterprise Integrations Platform)

The Enterprise Integrations Platform team at Envoy is seeking a Member of Technical Staff to architect and build critical systems for workplace intelligence. This role involves optimizing high-throughput systems, solving complex networking issues, building robust infrastructure, and creating developer-friendly SDKs. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with expertise in designing and maintaining scalable APIs and distributed systems, and a passion for exceptional user experiences.

Must Have

• 5+ years of software engineering or coding experience
• BS / MS in Computer Science or a related technical field
• Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining APIs at scale (REST, GraphQL, JSON/HTTP)
• Production expertise with TypeScript or Kotlin, including debugging complex issues in live environments
• Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts: message queues, data sharding, auto-scaling, and efficient access patterns
• Strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals, design patterns, and common anti-patterns
• Product mindset with a passion for exceptional user experiences

About the role

The Enterprise Integrations Platform team shapes the future of workplace intelligence at Envoy. We architect and build the critical systems that power seamless workplace operations—from access control and real-time presence tracking to the integration platform that connects customers' existing workplace infrastructure and enables the workflows that drive adoption.

As a team, we tackle diverse technical challenges: optimizing high-throughput systems for performance at scale, solving complex on-premise networking connectivity issues, building robust infrastructure with intelligent rate limiting and connection pooling, and creating developer-friendly SDKs that make integrations intuitive for both our internal teams and external partners.

This is a hybrid position that requires 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday) in our San Francisco HQ.

You will

• Stand up new services that improve the safety, reliability, and accuracy of our access control systems
• Examine, improve, and challenge the existing modalities of how we manage ACS today
• Collaborate with team members to bounce ideas off each other and see delivery of value to customers from start to finish
• Design MVPs with strong technical foundations, and iterate on them with product feedback

You have
