Job Summary

The Stations of Our Quad Cities (WHBF - CBS, CW & KLJB - FOX) are seeking a SUPERSTAR News Producer. This role involves producing daily newscast items, deciding story order, writing content, timing news programs, editing video, and posting to the website. The producer will balance news and feature content to create compelling broadcasts, interact with viewers on social media, and perform other assigned duties. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field, fluency in English, excellent communication skills, and a minimum of two years’ experience in news operations.

Must Have

  • Produce newscasts for broadcast across all platforms
  • Write and order news stories
  • Approve scripts
  • Balance news and feature content to create compelling broadcasts
  • Edit video
  • Write stories for the website and other eMedia platforms
  • Interact with viewers and users on social media sites
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Minimum two years’ experience in news operations
  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize assignments
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Flexibility to work any shift

Job Description

The Stations of Our Quad Cities (WHBF - CBS, CW & KLJB - FOX) on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River in beautiful Quad Cities. We are seeking a SUPERSTAR News Producer. Our amazing work & play community is home to the world headquarters of John Deere. We are in central proximity to major metro areas including Chicago, Des Moines, Madison, and St. Louis.

The News Producer produces daily newscast items, decides the order in which stories will be told, writes teases and other content, times news programs, edits video, and posts video to the website.

  • Produces newscasts for broadcast across all platforms
  • Writes and orders news stories
  • Approves scripts
  • Balances news and feature content to create compelling broadcasts
  • Edits video
  • Writes stories for the website and other eMedia platforms
  • Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Minimum two years’ experience in news operations (Depending on market size)
  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Flexibility to work any shift
